I just played my Berskerker/Cleric through BG2 SoA......i've played him through into ToB....funny thing is, i'm considerably far in ToB and he just got his cleric holy symbol. i saw that it was a Talos one, and i was like "what the hell?" because my guy is CHAOTIC GOOD. so i went and checked what his alignment was and it said neutral evil!!!
i loaded an old old save from when i started ToB after beating SoA, and he was still neutral evil, so i assume he has been this way the whole time ever since i beat Shadows and started him in ToB.
WHY IS THIS???

on top of that, i went into Shadowkeeper, and it says that his alignment is still Chaotic Good. I left it on that and reloaded, and it still said Neutral Evil and the Lathander symbol i gave him through Shadowkeeper wouldn't work on him. can anyone help me out here??

Did you get one of the tears of Bhall in hell the evil way? Like killing the dragon instead of asking it for the tear? Doing any of those evilly will change your alignment to evil.

You can change it back with shadowkeeper. It's been a while since I looked at that stuff, but the modifications that are made for the Tears of Bhaal quests are listed under.... um..... I forget =/. Just click through all the tabs in shadowkeeper, it's one near the end. You'll see each quest listed and whether you did it good or evil. That's why you still see chaotic good. These mods are different and override instead of change your stats (I think).

No, I'm positive i didn't do anything the evil way in Hell. i didn't kill the dragon, didn't take the cloak to face the beholders, didn't kill the genie w/ blackrazor (gave it to him), didn't turn into the slayer for sarevok....so i'm confused as to why my alignment would have changed. i heard about something having to do with a bug in the dragon trial where it will give you the evil result regardless of whether you kill the dragon or not (i think the result involves getting a -2 AC permanently, which my guy did get even though he did it the good way).....maybe that has something to do with it.

the problem is, how am i gonna get his aligment back to chaotic good??? i don't want him to be neutral evil, dammit!!!

Burrtoe--ok, i'll check that out. do you remember exactly what it is i need to change?
in other words, if i change all these trial things to "good" and reload, will that change my alignment back?

Burrtoe 10-25-2001 09:22 PM

I can't remember, it's been quite a while since I looked at that stuff. If I wasn't at work, I'd load up a saved game in shadowkeeper and could tell you.

There's a list of the good or evil results under one of the tabs in shadowkeeper. It's easy to spot. I'm thinking you'll just have to delete the one that makes you evil. Hopefully, someone else will post who knows the exact details. I can check when I get home, but I don't get off work for another 3 hours.

thats odd.. Just the opposite happened to me. I choose a few evil choices (to get the str boost), and I didn't turn neutral evil. Just stayed as true neutral. Maybe my monks alignment is just too strong to be swayed? http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

OK Burrtoe (or anybody else who knows about such things and can help me out):

these are the global variables i have in the game thus far, the ones that i suspect have to do with the alignment shift at the end of ToB:

TEARDOOR = 6
TEAREYE1 = 0
TEAREYE2 = 0
TEAREYE3 = 0
TEAREYE4 = 0
TEAREYE5 = 0

anyone know or even have a good guess what i might want to change, and to what, so that my guy may once again be his old self? i can't play him as neutral evil

Did you gave the sword to the Djini or fought him?

Where there are monsters and barbarians there will be Byronas fighting against them.

i gave the djinnithe sword, so that shouldn't be the problem.....the alignment shift definitely has something to do with something way later in SoA, and i'm fairly certain its probably attributed to the Tear of Bhaal bug where it will give you an evil result regardless. THIS SUCKS! i can't play my guy until i fix this...i wish i had maybe noticed a lot earlier, and not gotten so far in ToB now....that way i could reload the Hell save I have in SoA and try to avoid having this alignment shift occur all together. if anyone knows or can suggest a way to manipulate those above variables (even a guess will do), please tell me!
