I can't kill abazigal when he turns into a dragon. I've killed frost/ice salamanders first. All I've been able to do is get him down to "injured level" before I die. Any hints cheats needed. thanx

Well, one good idea is to cast the Mordenkainen's Magnificent Sword spell since it is one of the strongest summoning spells availiable to a mage, it's a 7th level spell, also, place your characters AROUND Abazigal, don't attack him from the same direction with all your characters, this way, he will only be able to Wing Buffet some of them each time he uses that ability, also, cast Lower Magic Resistance and Greater Malison at him, this will lower his saving throws, also, try this strategy when trying to defeat him:

Have all your mages and clerics cast ONLY instant kill(Finger of Death and such.) spells on Abazigal in the hope that just ONE of them will get through his magic resistance and saving throws.

What is your party make-up and level?

Assuming you have 2 Mages, you can try the following... ...

Let your fighters and weak summons take care of human Abazigal, taking care to make sure he concentrates on the summons, not your fighters.

When Abazigal transforms into a dragon, cast a Planetar with a one Mage, while the other fires a Spell Trigger filled with 3 Lower Resistances. Immediately after casting, cast Chain Contingency and fill it up with 3 Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting for both Mages. Set the spell to trigger when enemy is sighted and to cast at nearest enemy.

Distract Abagizal for one round. Both Chain Contingencies will trigger and kill him.

hey i just beat him as a dragon yesterday. the only way i could do it is getting him stuck on the wall so he can't move, and then sending in about 60 or 70 summons to weaken him, and then finally going in for the kill. the way to get him stuck against a wall is to cast confusion on him when he's in human form. and then chase him till he's against a wall and cast either hold person or web or something to keep him there. (of course you can't cast any of these without lowering his resistance and his saving throws)...

I found abazigal pretty easy, bu Draconis gave me loads of trouble. The trick i used was to have a lot of pierce magic available (try to find the wand). Then I had Aerie cast energy Blades and summon skeleltons (or whatever) and holy bolt. All of these do damage after pierce brings down magic resistance. Then I get me (cavalier, carsomry +6) and minsc and jahiera to charge him after all casting hardiness on themselves. Imoen and Nalia do repeated salvos of magic missile. Another thing i do is cast stoneskin on all spellcasters at start of battle. I beat abazigal with only Jaheria dying.

I got him the first time, wich is strange considering his kid gave me a real hard time. I managed to sneek away while my summoned monsters kept him busy and beamed away to my pocket plane for resting and restocking.

Again, your party makeup determines how to kill him. As someone already said, Mordakainen's Sword is great. For any tanks, make sure to use Greater Whirlwind. If you've got high level mages (or a high level mage), a Spell Trigger of Lower Resistances, followed by a Chain Contingency of Abi Dalzim's, is a good idea. He's also vulnerable to Time Stop, so if you get into a bad situation cast that to get a chance to breathe.

this is my "big bad boss" strategy.

summon 5 skeleton warriors. haste them. send them in.

imoen casts improved alacrity then: spellstrike or ruby ray, pierce shield or pierce magic, lower resistance x2, greater malison, abi's horror x2, finger of death, slow, and finally emotion. if you have time stop as well that follows alacrity but it doesnt work on some bosses but the sequence still applies.

meanwhile my archer is using called shots and whirlwind combos, my tanks use critical strikes, and my thief uses assassination.

so far (almost finished) this has worked out very well.
