I am not sure if this is common knowledge, but I accidentally discovered a way to 'abuse' Misled. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

So I had my Blade_Bard, Jack; and eventually he came to memorise Misled. While in some dungeon, which will remain anonymous to prevent spoilers, Jack casted Misled and entered another room.

Now, as I expected, the enemy casted True Sight, and I was making Jack run away when I noticed... ...

*drumroll*

He REMAINED INVISIBLE!!!! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/noncgi/smiles/eek.gif

I was naturally bamboozled, http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...s/confused.gif since I had always believed True Sight to be the spell for dispelling illusions. With further testing, I found out why. The fake illusion, was not in the line of sight of the caster who casted True Sight... ...

I pondered over this, and it was not long before I was whooping for joy. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gifhttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gifhttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

NOTE!!!! Some creatures can see invisible units! Prime example will be the Lich.

Abus- er... using this new-found knowledge, I now had a Blade_Bard that could remain untargetable, unhittable and generally unseen by the enemy, save a special few. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

So now you know! Next time you fight, place your Misled double somewhere where the sun don't shine and you are guranteed permanent invisibility for 2 mins, at character Lvl 20. One round per level of your character.

Do you have any idea how easy the TWISTED RUNE was using this technique?!?!

First everybody gangbangs the Lich, then Minsc lure the Beholder in and it got killed with a horde of Magic Missiles, the Thief was of course laughable.

Then it got cheesy. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gifhttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...les/tongue.gifhttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Jack casts Misled in the entrance room, the illusion gets shoved in some corner where it could remain unseen.

The real Jack runs out of the room swinging Daystar, dances around clueless Vampire and waves unseen at the Mage. Due to the cheating AI, Mage casts True Sight even when Jack is unseenable, but that's okay because it does not work anymore... ... BwerWahHAHAHAHA!!!!

Jack gets bored of dancing and unleashes Sunray, Vampire vomits blood but still lives, Jack finishes off Vampire with Melf's Minute Meteors.

Jack polishes off Mage from a distance with Melf's Minute Meteors and his amazing astral-projecting off-hand weapon.

Minsc, Jan and Aerie falls asleep in the entrance room.

Hmmmm... ...

Had more fun with Misled, and discovered some more details. While invisible, Mind Flayers and Uber Hulks still hurl Psionics and Confusion at my Bard, but they do not engage in melee. So it was just a matter of casting Chaotic Command and hey, hey! Back in business.

My Blade Bard, single-handedly decimated the Mind Flayer City in the Underdark and the Mind Flayer Hideout in the Temple Sewers.

Then I discovered something else, something really cheesy... ... As we all know, Misled illusions cannot attack or cast spells, but wait! Believe it or not, Bards' Misled illusions can play the Bard Song!

Now, a Blade's Bard Song is nothing to scream about, but... ... when we get the Enhanced Bard Song, now we are talking... heh, heh, heh... ...

This means that, the Misled can now also serve as a battle booster, Enhanced Bard Song gives +4 AC bonus, +4 THACO bonus, +4 Damage, immunity to Fear, Stun and Confusion, +5% Magic Resistance and immunity to normal weapons... ... *drool* ... ...

Combine that with the Melf's Minute Meteors exploit, Dual-Wield, Offensive Spin( I am a Blade) and a Girdle of Hill Giant Strength, I have six attacks per round, two of which will be my off-hand weapon.

With Celestial Fury, this is my damage per round.

13 Damage + 3 Fire Damage
13 Damage + 3 Fire Damage
24 Damage
13 Damage + 3 Fire Damage
13 Damage + 3 Fire Damage
24 Damage

Remember, Offensive Spin means maximum damage dealt. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I know that compared to a Fighter, this is nothing, but for a Bard, who has only a basic one attack per round... this is heavenly... ... not to mention that this is a ranged attack.

Hmm a little point. The AI does not cheat. Mages cast true sight even though they can't see you because they can hear you.

There are 2 scripting triggers:
See(Object)
and Detect(Object) that are mainly used in AI scripts for detecting people.

The code to decide when true sight is cast is simple:

IF
!See(NearestEnemyOf(Myself)) //the ! means NOT
Detect(NearestEnemyOf(Myself))
HaveSpell(WIZARD_TRUE_SIGHT)
THEN
RESPONSE #100
Spell(Myself,WIZARD_TRUE_SIGHT)
END

Pretty simple I'm sure u admit. If the nearest enemy is heard but not seen, cast true sight. This is why u need thieves and rangers with high move silently skill.

Ah I see, too bad for them though, that they cannot hit my Blade.

Yeah I'm sure your blade is very amazing, but why would mages WANT to hit your blade when they can just cast abi-dalzim's in your area. OK so the BG2 ones might not be that smart....but I'm sure that in some of the unofficial MODs that will appear there'll be some smart-ass mages http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif
