Can someone inform me what happens with 10th level spells for sorcerers and mages?

I read somewhere that sorcerers have an advantage over mages with 10th level spells ..

Is it true that for a mage you have to erase a 9th level spell before you can put a 10th level spell in your spell book?

If this is so ...

Does this still apply if your mage's INT is high enough that you can memorize all spells of that level?

Let's see... assuming the Mage has 6 spell slots for Lvl 9 spells, that means he/she can memorise 6 Lvl 9 and 10 spells total.

Not 12, 6.

For a Sorcerer, he/she can choose from anywhere, and can cast up till 6 times till he/she depletes his/her supply of Lvl 9 and 10 spells.

So ironically, the Sorcerer actually can have more variety than the Mage for Lvl 9 and 10 spells, http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...les/tongue.gif because he/she can have all Lvl 10 spells plus his/her default 5 Lvl 9 spells.

Thanks for the info, Dundee Slaytern.

So, for a mage, the limit is on how many combined 9th and 10th level spells he can memorize to cast ( = 6 )

And there are no other limitations on the number of 9th and 10th level spells you can scribe into the 9th level spellbook? ( apart from INT )

I assume that an INT of 19 or greater would allow a mage to have all 9th/10th in his spellbook?

No problem, always good to see another Magic-user. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Yup. Although the maximum number of spell slots you can have is 4... ... unless you are a specialist mage, in which case, it is 5. This is due to the Xp Cap that prevents Mages from exceeding Char Lvl 31.

You get Lvl 10 spells as a Class Ability, you get to choose, starting from Char Lvl 18.

18 is all you need, if I recall correctly, though the NPC mages can also scribe Lvl 9 spells, even if they lack 18 intelligence. There are so few Lvl 9 spells that 19 is not necessary. You need 19 if you want to scribe all possible spells(because some levels have a lot of different spells), though you can always gulp a Potion of Genius before scribing your scrolls. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif[/B]
