Has anyone tried the patch from Baldurdash that supposedly strengthens the Demogorgon to 'original' levels (before game balance)? I figured it would make things more challenging, so what the heck, try it. But I wasn't anticipating this.. Its an EXTREMELY hard battle... Managed to do about 10 damage to the Demogorgon so far. Here is the situation:

The demo casts time stop, summons about 10 demons (mariliths, baatezu etc) to help, and then just wastes me. I tried spell sequencers with 1x pierce magic, and 2x lower magic resistance, but I could never lower the magic resistance at all?? It never says 'magic res. lowered by xx%' in the msg bar, even though I've pierced the Shield and cast like 5 lower magic res. at it. So magic is a no go so far (once I did 5 damage with Dragons Breath, lol)

As for physical attacks, the Demons make VERY short work of a Planetar (can't summon more than one for some reason, even with the Mirror Image spell), and 4 Greater Elementals. Once I changed my main char to Slayer and attacked the Demogorgon, and managed to do about 20 damage (in like 15 hits) before I was destroyed.

I'm sure this can't be impossible, and I'm willing to wait and come back at a higher level (I'm at 21-25 right now) but right now I have no idea how to do any decent damage to this fool! Please help.

Yeah wait a few levels. He keeps casting stoneskin so make sure you bring down those. Strangely pierce magic seems to but not breach, use the wands of spell striking. I ignored the demons except for the glabrezu who I killed because they were easy. Mass area effect spells work against most of his minions still, so it's worth using them. You seem to only need +2 weapons to hurt him too, so missile fire is good. I did lots of damage with arrows and bolts. Even with four fighter types I still went through a lot of healing potions and several wand of resurrection charges. Sometimes he summons less monsters than others so that can make it easier.

Only +2 weapons? I thought it was +5. Hmm, I'll try that. I never really tried a missle weapon assault on him. I too have 4 fighter types, so I'll give it a few more tries, and if its still no go I'll wait a few levels..

Very strange that pierce magic didn't work. Maybe he had something like spell trap utilized. Try having one mage throw warding whip, breach, breach and then have an other mage use multiple lower resistances via a spell sequencer.

Ok, I tried again. Are you sure you are fighting the tougher, 'patched' demogorgon, Draggor? None of my crossbows (+5 and +3, with +3 bolts) did any damage. Nor did Heartseeker or a +4 bow I also have.

I managed to get him down to 'injured' by rushing minsc and keldorn at him and getting lucky.. But they got confused, diseased, level drained, stunned and finally killed........ argh.

Scott G: Pierce Magic appears to dispell his Globe of Invuln., but doesn't lower his mr as far as I can tell. Also according to the msg bar he only has the Globe, and an Aura of Flaming Death invoked, no other protections. I may try spell strike, then two breaches followed by lower MR. If that doesn't work, then he is obviously somehow immune to all spells whatsoever. Thats sorta BS, no wonder he was changed for 'game balance' reasons.

No my mistake. I do/did have the patched demogorgon but I forgot I was using the bow of gesen, fire tooth and the sling of everard on him. They were hurting him for some reason with their energy ammo. I think +4 weapons should work. I was using the wave halberd against him and that was hurting him. He does have a huge magic resistance and and resistances to all the elements of around 80 to 90 per cent. Needless to say his saving throws are very low too. Use all of you fighter special abilities if you have them. Because he regenerates you need to deal out lots of damage quickly and be ready to drop his defences straight away. I only used breach, pierce magic, remove magic and warding whip against his defences.

In addition to spell trap he may be utilizing a 5th level spell imunity that is blocking lower resistance, I think warding whip will kill a protection like this (try alternating protection removal spells to see if there is a difference). I don't have the book in front of me right know to look over lower resistance (saving throws, or how magic resistance effects it).

It must be the elemental damage, but that would only be about 1 pt a hit.

Try using Greater Malison, it isn't affected by MR AFAIK.

Ok, so I can Malison him to lower his saving throws.. And then what? Somehow I doubt Feeblemind or Finger of Death will work on him... What are some good spells with negative throws to try?

Yeah but it was still four damage per turn- 2 for fire tooth and 1 each for the others. It was still enough to cancel out his regeneration and interrupt his spell casting. Fire arrows and things might work too. I found that Demo kept dropping that big storm thing of his on my mages and interrupting them so they never got to cast very well, hence the use of them as long range fire power.
