I've seen a lot of people posting here and there about doing the game solo with various classes. I've always wondered- how do you find and remove traps without a thief? I know a cleric can find traps, if she has the spell memorized (even then, I don't know how she would disarm them once she finds them).
Anyway, any light shed on this would be most welcome. Thanks, |
With the boots of speed or hasted (or both; makes you super fast it seems) you can run right over traps without tripping them. Seems to me that this amounts exploiting a defect in the game, but it's better than getting blown up I guess.
I know summoned monsters and skeletons will not set off traps... I'm not sure if charmed creatures set off traps or not... but if you can do that: how about charming bad guys with Algernon's cloak and have them spring traps? [ 01-26-2002: Message edited by: Lemernis ]</p> |

I tried that recently in my speed game attempt as my thief was so low level that there were traps she could not find that I knew were there. Well, it doesn't work- someone from your party has to walk over a trap to activate it. In that game I referenced, I eventually just had to run the thief across the trap and let it go off and heal the damage. Well mages and bards can soak up the damage from traps with spells like Mirror Image. As for the fighter classes, I guess they can soak up the damage with their super high HP
