I really want something to boost my mage char and i want to know if there are some high powered mage tools in ToB (rings, amulets, staffs, robes)?

Yeah i checked but there was only a circlet that gave you 1 extra 7 and 8 spell. What i meant to ask was were there any mage items that didn't have to be upgraded. You know how the staff of the magi didn't need to be upgraded yet it was a cool item. Well thats what i mean. And by the way does a circlet go in the helmet slot or necklace. And is you item list of upgrades absolutely full and none missed? Thanx larry.

there are lots of great items for mages...here are just a few:

staff of the magi
staff of power
staff of the ram (not specifically for mages, but good to have)
robes of the good/neutral/evil archmagi
cloak of balduran (good for mages - ac bonus and magic resistance)
ring of wizardry (gives extra 5th, 6th and 7th level spell
circlet of netheril (i think that's its name)
ring of acuity
belt of inertial barrier
robes of vecna
amulet of power (decreases spell-casting time)
robes of cold/fire/electricity resistance

and then of course any rings or cloaks to improve your mages AC is always good.

these are just some items that are tailored for or work well with mages. and to answer your question, circlets go in the helmet slot.

* There is a Ring of Fire Control that gives 50% fire resist, charm Fire elemental, Cast Burning hands a/day, cast flamestrike 1/day.

* There is a girdle of Fire Giant strength, (sets to 22)

* There is a pair of Gargoyle boots, that makes your guy immune to backstab(since mages are always hit first), and can cast stoneskin 2/day with two skins per casting.</font>
