I have killed all the statues and performed the ritual on the first level. However, when I try to enter the portal I get a message telling me the statues guarding the portal are blocking my exit, or something to that effect. However, I have slain them all.

mm thats strange. I performed the ritual, the statues attacked me, I killed them and entered the portal, I don't know what you ran into. Can you load in a earier game, or the autosave? or something and try again?

also, have you made sure all the statues are dead? there could be one lurking in the shadows, or off in the corner of your screen where it hasn't really attacked yet. i'm not sure, just an idea.

I picked up 2 ward stones on level 1, never used it actually, but could it be that, since I dont have problem entering the portal
