These are wonderful... I'm finally getting a few with my characters and this is what I've tried.

Whirlwind attack... I turned it on when Saverok was corned and alone, dropped both his attacks before the end of the round.
Dragon's Breath... Time stop with Edwin, then launched two of these on some unsespecting enemies... they were yellow and running when the clock hit the wall... unfortunately the dragon graphics almost made my graphics card fall out.
Elemental Storm (Something like that, druid one)... huge crowd of mediocre enemies was down or running in no time.

And my favorite...
Assassination
A very powerful very named very big monster was downed in one round by my fighter/thief... I wonder if I could combine this ability with whirlwind attack (have them both, haven't tried yet)... 10 attacks in one round at X5 damage multiplier.

Early in the expansion yet, but for me these abilities made it worth it.

have you tried "use any item"? (bards & thieves)

I made an Assassin, and on the charts it says i can have a 7x backstab but on the profile chart it says x9! Bug?
