To all BG-hackers out there:
Does anybody know how to change your main character's portrait and/or alignment in the middle of the game? (The alignment change is to accommodate a future dual-classed fighter-assassin I'm planning in BG2.) One more thing, are there any good character sounds available for download? Many thanks. |
The portrait is changeable in the character screen without hacking, but I dont know where exactly. just take a look.
there are lots of BG hacking softwarez availible on the internet. this is a site with a lot of liks to the best sites http://www.gamelists.net/cgi-bin/Gam...st&List=Baldur but some of them screw up your BG, so be carefull and backup !!! there are a lot of complete characters on this site too, so you can use them. or you can make you own ! whatabout a Lara Croft sound schedule ! or a Duke-Nukem ss ? mir_ror: it's very easy, I'll mail you as soon as possible.
codes(hex): 11 lawful good 21 neutral good 31 chaotic good 12 l neut. 22 true neutral 32 c neut. (mad) 13 l evil 23 n evil 33 c evil |
Many thanks, Azreall and Moggl!
Azreall: I've found how to change my character's portrait -- you're right, it can be easily done from the Character Record screen! Regarding your suggestion about making my own sounds, I'm not that 'advanced'; maybe after I've gained a few more years in experience perhaps? Moggl: Thanks for your guidance (especially the screen-shot! How the heck did you find it?!), I've found and hex-edited the required file -- now Imoen is (temporarily) a mad Chaotic Neutral . Btw, which hex-editor are you using / recommand? I'm using AXE, which I just downloaded half an hour ago, for the express purpose of editing the file. Thanks again for responding to my plea, guys. |
mir_ror:
I found out when I compared Moggl the mad to Moggl the not-quite-so-mad in my editor, just for laughs. One of my favourite editors is UltraEdit ( www.ultraedit.com ) since it can do much more than just hex editing. Erm, about the screenshot: I opened a baldur.gam file in the editor, hit the [PRINT] key on the keyboard, opened a graphics prog, pasted and cut the thing to size. That's all there is to it, frighteningly simple, really. |
Moggl,
I did see the Ultra Edit program at the site where I downloaded AXE, but it's size was depressingly large compared to AXE -- no thanks to my 33.6 kbps modem. Anyway, I just found out (from my elder bro) that Ultra Edit is on one of the many CDs we have accumulated ! I tried out the steps you mentioned in obtaining the screenshot, and it worked! (Lying right under my nose, and I never noticed... how embarrassing ). Thanks for all your pointers, I really appreciate it. |
Yeah, those CDs...
(I have a fast connection but I prefer CDs as the spare me some trouble) |
