Okay. So I just got this new laptop, and naturally the first thing I installed was SoA and then ToB. There was some kind of error launching the preview movies after I installed ToB, and now when I go to run the program... nothing happens whatsoever. No error message, no recognition, nothing. It's like I didn't even click on it. I tried reinstalling, and I got an error message that said something like, "Remote access call failed" or words to that effect. I know the word "remote" was involved. Can someone help me? I have this great idea for a theme party story and I want to finish it before the semester starts.

Was it about Remote Procedure Call? and you're using Windows XP? If so run windows update it should fix it.

No good. I tried again, and it froze on me when launching. Error message same: "An error occurred while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed."

It's very frustrating... There is absolutely no reason for this to not work.

That's the one I found hence the Windows update suggestion.

I had an error message with remote procedure call before when installing somehting else and it was fixed after updating windows.

Hmmmmm, the plot thickens. I copied everything but "BGmain"

"Cannot copy BGmain: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

So close, and yet so far.

if you cant copy it probably the CD is scratched. Try one of the cd repair kits (worked for many of my cds) or try some <a href=http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=cd+recovery+software&btnG= Search&meta=>cd recovery software</a> which could work if the scratch is not serious.

Lumie - How'd you go getting it installed? Is all well with the world again?

Consider it a work in progress... When you see a story thread, you'll know I made it work.
