69 votes have been tallied, and the results are quite clear. Most people do not give a damn about Farsight, Enchanted Weapon, and Contagion respectively.
Since Teleport Field was quite close, it shall be an honorary fourth defendant. Discuss whether it is justified to condemn these four spells to the abyss, or is there some form of redemption for them? Cheers. [img]smile.gif[/img] |
Farsight is a nice and cheesy spell. Scout the map with it and send in your summons... It is one of the spells i use constantly.

Never used any of them. I'm more of a "breach their protections, nuke them with everything" type of guy *grins*

Contagion is the big sucker though. Enemies usually make their save, and the damage takes too lang to be interesting.

Teleport Field is my favorite.
No saving throw Ignores magic resistance Area of effect Party friendly As soon as the enemy moves he restarts his round, so he loses extra 1/2 apr, and if his weapon speed isn't good enough he may lose his attack all together. This turns tough melee opponents into pansies. Great against (non-spell casting) demons. Spectacular when stacked with slow and possibly greater malison. Enchanted weapon is quite handy until you get a decent weapon for your tank. I'll use it if I have an extra spell slot. After D'Arnise or similar quests it is entirely useles. Seems like Wizard Eye can do everything Farsight does and more. Contagion well and truly sucks. |
Contagion's effects are such that I only use it when I'm feeling sadistic and cast it on a party member that has displeased my evil PC. This may or may not be combined with booting them out of the party with the means to cure this condition on their person, but for some reason they're unwilling to use it.

I'm just wondering if there is a particular reason you choose the level four spells?

some interesitng points on 'enchanted weapon' - specfically that it creates a variety of +3 weapons that can be given to anyone and last for 24 hours (so you cast - hand out weapons - pick new spells - rest again - 16 hours with the weapons) - that's pretty good teleport field is sounding good too - what comes into my head is that you could build a groovy multiclass solo around it as a tactic - something like a blade maybe or an FMT btw - i nearly missed this thread it being above the stickies that i tend to mentally 'edit out' when i view the forum |
Quite frankly, I think Enchanted Weapon is one of the best 4th level spells; Until after De'arnise keep, or so. Eventually, it becomes completely useless.

I always found Teleport Field to be quite useful on a solo Sorc. And it's great for role-playing a chaotic Wild Mage.
