I'm playing a Elf Ranger with minimum stats (as low as they can go) thru the whole series. Of course, I'll add in Tomes when I find them in BG1.

What kit is best when I hit SoA/ToB? I don't know which one is better. I am seeking a power kit here.

Also, here are my projected parties thru the series. Any advice is welcome, bue keep in mind I plan on playing a mostly good aligned party.

BG1:

Minnie
Imoen (Thief 5-Conjuror)
Jaheira (Khalid died already)
Yeslick
Coran
Ajantis

BG2:

Minnie
Imoen/Yoshimo
Jaheira
Minsc or Valygar
Keldorn
Anomen

Considering the party you're going with in BGII, I think an archer would be the most rewarding class to play, since you have at least three tanks, and since you do, I would recommend installing the Tactics mod for increased difficulty.

Hmm... with minimal stats... being a ranged character is your best bet. Tanking is out of the question, unless you are masochistic or something.

Good luck when you meet the Illithids.

Tip: Certain ToB HLAs will instant kill Illithids. Use in conjunction with ranged weapons for deadly effect.

Such as...?

BTW, what will my stats be, assuming I choose all good options, use every boost from the Machine of Lum the Mad on myself, and read each Tome and Manual myself?

TIA

Well, I don't know what you're stats would be, but instead of an archer, a different track might be a stalker in BG2. There are plenty of strength enhancing items (even in BG1 there are 18/00 gloves), and you'd probably be using mostly ranged weapons in BG1 anyways. With the stalker's backstab, you could actually be effective in battle in BG2, and hide in shadows in both instances would help your character stay out of the line of fire, as it were.

Fireseed + Deathblow. That's what Dundee's talking about I think.

from a forum search* the minimums are as follows (figures in brackets are after the BG1 tomes are used)

STR 13 (14)
DEX 13 (15)
CON 14 (15)
INT 3 (4)
WIS 14 (17)
CHA 3 (4)

so not that weak at all really

* feel free to correct me

The minimum CHA and INT of an Elf are 8 in each. Also, there is only 1 Tome for DEX in BG1.

I'm also curious about the stat changes in BG2, assuming all Good choices are made in Hell.

+1 to Wis and Cha is all for stats. You also get Immunity to +1 & Less Weapons, +10% magic resistance, +2 to all saving throws and 20% resistance to fire, electricity and cold.

that is assuming that you follow a certain path, you can get other effects based on how you perform tasks.
