Alright, so it's been like 2 years since I last played this game, and apparently Lehtinan has nothing to say to me after I talk to him once. After I rest or save, he's all hugs and kisses, but after I talk to him once he has nothing to say. Now even though it's been a while, I seriously doubt it's supposed to be like this, so I turn to the interweb for answers.

I've installed all soa and tob patches, including unofficial fix-patches and what-not, tried every combination of everything, and I'm still getting this message. He's not "too busy to talk", he just "has nothing to say" and I'm like "okay thanks" and then I ctrl-y his npc butt. I also searched this forum for any threads on this, and got nothing except "install latest patch okay", which I've already done three times.

I've tried installing just soa with latest patch and fixpack with no mods, same god damn thing, tried it with tob and latest patch/fixpack, and still he's being a dick. The only mods I have are ease-of-use and dungeon be gone, and some minor ones I've made myself that worked just fine a few years ago so I don't know wtf.

Honestly I don't know what's up. I've tried pretty much everything I could think of to fix this crap, and it didn't work.

Help.

For the love of god, help.

oh man

i had the same problem, and i downloaded patches and fixes and still nothing, i was very annoyed. what i did, was to save the game and re-load, usually on the re-load it worked fine. if not re-load again. i know its not the most ideal solution to your problem, but it worked for me.

Keep in mind that (if I remember correctly) patches you apply are not retrospective which is why it's so important to do them at the beginning of a game.

Do you have a pre-Coronet save you could revert to?

Edit: In fact, what about your autosave (assuming you haven't been "exploring"!)

IIRC you don't leave the map for the whole of the Beastmaster quest.

I've reinstalled and started a new game and basically done all the old standard fixes and still I get this bug. I mean obviously I can work around with saving/reloading but god damn is it ever annoying if I have to do it all the time. Kinda like the old days with win98 when the game would crash every time I entered a new area... At least this time I won't have to reboot I guess.

But yeah, I've started a new game, tried old saves, and pretty much everything I can think of to fix it. I guess I'm screwed :\

Wait. You only need to talk to him once, right? What's the problem?

You talk to him once, he lets you in back, you free the slaves and don't talk to him. He initiates dialogue with Hendak.

Perhaps he's taking the evil option.

timothy trotter 04-04-2006 05:45 AM

or if you just kill him, you still get the discount.

Kyrvias 04-04-2006 12:04 PM

Why do you need to tlak to him? If you talk to him once, he opens the back doors. That's all you need. Unless you're evil.

But, on the offchance that you can't talk to him even once, enable the console and teleport yourself around the door using Ctrl+J.

You need to initiate the correct dialogue on the first try. Failure to do so means that you have to execute plan B, where 'B' stands for Bloodbath. Subsequent attempts to talk to him will be in vain. This is not a bug.

When you first talk to him, ask him about 'other entertainment' and talk your way through into convincing him to allow your party to enter the backrooms. Go to the backrooms and talk to Hendek. You should be able to take it from there.

I don't why, but after re-installing the fourth time and copying an old dialog.tlk from the hd on my old computer and then patching, it works

Sorry for wasting everybodies time.
