I recently finished the SoA phase of a solo Cleric/Ranger through Tactics on Insane. I was wondering from the veterans if they feel their is any real legitamate way of handling Improved Irenicus in Hell for a solo character other than a sorceror than trapping the Sword, The Wraith, and everybody else behind the Dragon and taking them out one by one. In my experience I have nearly decided that it is practically impossible to try and fight them from the center without dividing them up somewhat. Anywhoo, just wondering what the usual tactics folks used other than PRATI

Yes there is. And a C/R is quite cappable to do it.

Yes I read the story of Aragorn.

"YES ! It worked ! The Dragon was pissed but couldn't follow Aragorn into small stairway and all the other enemies just stood behind him and couldn't do anything. Aragorn now used one of his spells to see very far and noticed all his enemies behind the Dragon's ass.
Aragorn decided to use Fire Storm which always hits enemies."

That is exactly what I am talking about. Does anybody have any tactics that do not involve hiding behind the dragon end employing the use of firestorm, holy smite, etc.

One of Weimer's tenets is that he does not feel at all obligated to ensure that any battle, even those that are absolutely unavoidable, can be beaten by any character or party. In short, he expects you to powergame to the hilt, and if you choose to solo, that was the wrong choice.

Hmm, very interesting. Maybe after I finish ToB I will try a barbarian or other non-magic user and try to figure out a different way to take these guys down.

As far as I remember people cheesed their way out of that fight when soloing (almost all of the times I did it.. i cheesed with known tactics)

Don't have BG II installed.. haven't played it for like 2 years now.. but I remeber that fight to be a hell.. really
