I've already played through the game once, and now I'm playing it again, with a Chaotic Evil Half-orc Berserker. anyways, the first time I played, I had the game set to "Easy". This time around its on "Normal", but I'm finding it too easy for my tastes. I want to set it to "Core", since that is using the Core Rules, and as a DnD Player, this would be more fun for me. However, I understand that you don't roll max HP on each level up. I've read up on this, and it seems most people simply change the difficulty back to "Normal" right before they level up, so that they can get max HP, and then switch back. But this seems way too tedious, especially since your party members generally don't level up at the same time; the switching back and forth, back and forth would be very time consuming.

Does anyone have another solution to this problem?

EDIT: I've thought about Shadowkeeper, but its just about the same as far as how much time it would take. Is there any alternative? Or is not getting max HP that big of a deal..?

It takes about 3 seconds to drop down to Normal or Easy before Leveling Up. The tricky part is remembering to switch back to Core afterwards.

really? I thought you had to shut the game off, then start it up again, or something...

even so, its hard to keep track of it. i tried before, and i often ended up getting more experience from a battle then i expected, and lving up, and having to restart and replay the battle in an easier difficulty so i could get the max hp--- and this defeats the purpose of even having it on a higher difficulty.

:( maybe I'm just being a whiner.

I am thinking there is a mod that you can use to gain the max HP increase when leveling up, but for the life of me can't recall which one...

You're so right, Six.

And Solace, you don't have to quit the game to change the difficult settings. You can do it inside the game, from the Gameplay options.

But, I'd also say it's lame to drop down a level for max hp.

Just play core rules all the way through.

Ditto what Lav said.

Eventually, when you do all the quests and don't rush through anything (missing out XP) you'll reach your final destination in fine form. And with plenty HP, I might add.

Yeah, I think I might just play through with straight Core rules.

In all honesty, I think HP is overrated. If you have less HP, it takes less healing for you to recover, etc, etc. A meatshield doesn't need like, 150 HP at lvl 9 to be effective.

So yeah I think I'll just play through at Core difficulty. The whole 75% damage from enemies at Normal seemed too cheesy.

The G3 Tweak Pack (scroll down til you see it) contains a Max HP on Level Up component (& a 100% Learn Spells component, which is another function of Easy/Normal difficulty). It has a *lot* of other components, so here is the ReadMe if you'd like to look over it first.

i agree with solace in fire

i always just play core D&D rules and simply have a main save once i've leveled up and keep loading and quick saving good result. You can usually get close to the max result
