Hey every1 jst 1 more thing i'd like help with
KK so i did I poked the Blind Beholder in the eye with the wand and killed him and decided to try my luck vs Ths Shade Lich in the tomb who i believe has the head of Kangaxx ( tomb in Old Sewers ) I tried all my techniques: Mega buffing Mega summoning Mega summoning and buffing and also the good "ol throw wut ever offensive spells you have at him" 1. works the best but didnt work 2. Battle ended in 25 seconds 3. Summons were worst as they blocked minsc and korgan from doing anything 4. Lets put it this way I cast, breach, flame arrow, magic missle, acid arrow = dead ( me ) So basically my summons die quickly my spells are returned to me and my melee are constantly hindred by the flameshield. kk So wuts your best skill at killing him? Jan is a very good theif and if i mega buff him and only him and that the lich is carrying the head well i might be able to steal it from the lich before he turns hostile but i'd really like the exp. 1 last thing does he cast mislead?? coz i kill him so many times only to find it wasnt him. EDIT: My other idea was to move every1 into the West passageway and occasionally peep outside and have him cast all his spells until none are left and then i shall strike! I really only want his timestop, finger of death, that poison cloud, and his globe of invulnerability to run out. [ 07-06-2005, 05:54 AM: Message edited by: Pop 'n Fresh ] |
Get your hands on the Mace of Disruption, that's always a good starter. It has a chance of killing undead in one blow (and yes, that includes ALL undead!)
The problem with Liches is their supreme amount of (nasty) spells. If they haven't Imprisoned your entire party, they've used Time Stop, then bombard you with Meteor Shower and cast a Gate on top of that so they can play with their own Pit Fiends. Know this, for they always use this tactic. They buff heavily (Mantle, Protection from Magical Weapons, Mirror Image) and so forth. Just evaluate what happens and try to think of a way to counter it. What works best against a Meteor Shower or an Abi Dhalzim's Horrid Wilting? Which NPC can I protect from the lich and what characters can't I? |
Liches are immuned to spells of level 1-5 by the way, Pop.

A very good spell is sunray (do you have the sword that casts it?).
What level is your party. Chances are you are too weak. If so dont be afraid of leaving it and coming back later. Note that liches are immune to spells level 5 and below, which unfortunately includes breach. You can wait outside for his mantle (and other spells) to wear off. And.. A slightly cheesy way: Use polymorph self to transform into mustard jelly (100% magic resistance). He cannot harm you. Wait with all others outside. Once he finishes casting and goes mellee, bring others back in and hack him to pieces. And... A VERY cheesy way (DONT use it. I never do. Again DONT USE IT even if you cant do it any other way. It's better to leave the lich and come back later when youre more powerful) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Set traps in the place that he would appear. |
Even better would be to use a scroll of Protection from you-know-what. High in the cheese factor though.

Hey whatever as long as he dies and i havent cheated and besides i only have jan for traps and he can only make like 2. Is there more than just crappy snare traps?
|
Suck on those apples ya dam lich.
kk so i mustard jellied with jan and as he hit only 1-3 damage i used korgan with his throwing axe and eventually i got it. Thx guys |
I do not think turning into a mustard jelly prevents you from being imprisoned. A certain Demi-Lich loves to cast imprisonment with reckless abandon. I tried it once and lasted all of 3 seconds. Along with the Mace of Disruption, the pink throwing axe (can't recall the name at the moment) also can kill undead instantly.
While on the topic of Liches and their casting of Gate, has anyone ever had the Pit Fiend go invisible and stay that way until it was unsummoned? I had that happen the other day and was none to upset about it since everytime I made it "visible" and get it "badly injured" or "near death" it would cast another Gate. LOL Peace, John. |
One of my favorite (and cheesy) ways of dealing with this particular litch is to open up his coffin get him to set off all of his defensive spells and then I hightail it out of there and join my party in the hall way. Then do some low level summons and send them in one at a time to eat up the high level spells. For all their power and experience liches seem to go for overkill….casting meteor storm to deal with a couple kobolds definitely qualifies. After the worst spells are used it’s much safer to deal with Mr. litch.

When i first entered the tomb under the Crooked Crane ( City Gates ) I did have the pit fiend turn on the lich but i havent ever had him turn invisible.
