Maybe I will play with one someday.

Cleric can use the sanctuary + blade barrier trick. That's about what I know. Making traps are not really cheating.

There's always the guard cheese...

el_kalkylus 06-02-2005 05:58 PM

Ok, what is the guard cheese?

White Lancer 06-02-2005 08:18 PM

Fighter classes have a guard button, i think its next to the talk button. Anyways, if you guard a summon, or another character, then send the summon/character through a door and close it, if anything attacks the guarded individual, the fighter will shoot through walls at the attacker. Im not sure if this is limited by range, but i know it works through walls.

Woah, never knew about that one. Baldurdash probably fixes it though, right?

el_kalkylus 06-02-2005 09:40 PM

Aha, nice. I won't be using that trick though.

I'll have to try the guard button a little more. Maybe I'll find it useful.

This is the advantage with melee parties I guess. Since there are so few cheese tactics for melee parties, it makes it harder to play with them. Right now, I'm playing in ToB, and I am actually pretty bored. I just have to cast a project image, and then the image totally owns with breath, timestop, abi dalzim, skeleton warriors and some minor spells.

I would like to try an archer party. Like 3 archers in a party, 1 warrior, 1 cleric, 1 thief. Weak defense, but powerful range.

I'd actually say it's harder with more mages/ranged people. Melee, you don't really have to think about strategy, placement of spells, what spells etc. you just go for it.

Well, if you limit the number of rests that you take (say, in ToB, to one per bhaalspawn, no wishes and only a couple PI casts), then party play gets more interesting. Likewise, for me, limiting myself to not using IH is crucial for me not to get bored too quickly.

I find IH to be boring in and of itself... especially when you have 4 melee characters. since it takes 4 rounds to cast IH on all of them, it gets tedious.

On the topic of the guard cheese, im not sure if baldurdash fixes it... it is a known bug, but whther it was fixed i dont know. Will check.

Sir Goulum 06-02-2005 10:44 PM

It's probably something obvious that I know, but what is IH?
