i hear that the part when jaheira is held at knife point and where the protagonist offers his life instead is a critical part of the romance. and so is the locket incident. i have the locket but the bandit thing has not happened. am i missing out something? i think this is the lst thing required to set off the harper quests.

i got to the bandit part, but i have never heard about this locket. so i dont think they are related. i may be wrong

The locket is an extra, and is not vital to the advancement of the romance.

The bandit encounter can only happen in outdoor areas, so go sleep in the forests if you are in Chap6+ and have experienced prior lovetalks.

does it have to be chap 6? i'm not sure if i'm still in chap 6 but will check it out. moreover its been some time since she has made any sort of sentimental talk. also does it matter if she dies and i raise her up again. i tried it once but she made no comment. i'll give you brief of my journey till now so as to allow you to make a better decision.

once out of irenicus prison, i sided with the shadow theives, performed their tasks including routing bodhi and then set sail to spellhold, wherefrom i escaped (and forgot to take the ring of free action) to the undersea area. i sided with the prince there but killed him too before entering the underdark. i sided with adalon and got her eggs back. i then made it to the surface where without resting i made it to athkala to finish the planar sphere and then the de'arnise keep. major domo also seems too busy to initiate dialog when i go to him. i bought jaheira the locket befor entering the planar sphere. let me know if you need any more details.

Jaheira, and
Imoen.

i've also made a trip back to teh exit to the underdark and slept outside in the forest. should i do that again or can i hope that it'll happen when i go to the forest of tethyr?

i just checked. i'm yet to kill bodhi so i assume i must be in chapter 6.

If Jaheria dies it resets her AI so it kills the romance.

ok so i'll keep her out of the thick of things but apart from that is there anything i can do to get the romance going?

i just thought of this. i have the locket but i've kept it in my bag of holding. do i need to make jaheira wear it? or should i wear it? does it make a difference?

The locket is incidental to the quest. Although I tend to let her wear it anyway.
