I was fighting Tanova with my Level 13 mage/thief. I had Righteous Magic casted, and Phantom Blade wielded.
I done 50 damage. How is that even possible? Not even my fighters could do such huge damage. Does the phantom blade really get only +10 damage to undead, or maybe more? |
Did U backstab her.

Oh, no. Sorry, I was playing with a mage/priest (whih explains why I had Righteous Magic cast).

It's really weird that my mage/priest (who usually hits for 6 points damage), could lay down a smackdown on Tanova with a whopping 50 damage. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Perhaps the Phantom Blade is underrated?

what level spells is it? i cant find it in the rulebook, i wanna see its description.

Not that hard to work out.
Basically with righteous magic your strength is increased by 1 every 3 experience levels. So let's say it was 21. That gives you +9 damage. So you roll a critical hit. The sword damage (1-8 I think) amounts to 3 points. +3 for the enchantment, +9 for your strength, +10 for the undead feature. This adds up to 25 points. Double for critical hit and voila - 50 HP damage. I think the best you can do without the critical hit would be about 32 damage - strength of 23 (18+5 max from righteous magic unless it stacks with strangth items, which I don't think it does) gives +11 damage, +10 vs undead, +3 for enchantment and 8 from the sword itself. Add Draw on Holy Might and you can get a few more points of damage. Chant could I suppose add 1 more. Add Tenser's transformation for two more. [ 03-23-2005, 09:42 AM: Message edited by: ister ] |
HMM, I had a pitiful strength value, but thanks for explaining how it works. 50 damage is pretty impressive for a mage/priest, if you ask me. I wasn't planning on kicking Tanova's ass, I just summoned the phantom blade for fun. She ended up getting her ass kicked.
