It's my first time through this thing, SoA+ToB installed. patched and baldurfixed. The only mods I have are:

Ease-of-use
blonde immy
item upgrade

now my question: I reached my first HLA with my assasin-->mage (lvl 17/18) at 3mill exp on the mage. When given the option to pick my HLA, there were several. Extra 6th level spell, improved alacrity, energy blades, etc. Now what is strange is there are 2 ablities that don't give any description when the cursor is held over them. the little scroll anmiation pops up, but it is empty. I've seen this kind of thing before with BG1 mods making new items but not bothering to name them or add any description (makes it interesting to figure out exactly WHAT those items do). Are there HLAs that are added by any of these mods? One of the icons for the HLAs in question looked just like the "extra 6th level spell" icon (scroll w/quill), but the other one looked totally different, like an alchemy type icon with a couple of little bottle looking things.

Any clue as to what this is? I opted for the energy blades, but I couldn't help but feel I was missing out on something cool!

the one that looked just like "extra 6th level spell" is ToB SPOILER

Extra 7th level spell, i'm pretty sure. No,they're not added by mods, but i think you need to get the one before it to be able to get it nexttime. If that made sence. The bottles, i'm not sure about, but i think it's one where you can make your own potions, theif HLA. I might not be right about any of the info i have given however, i'm not 100% sure.

One of the mods did it. This issue can probably be fixed by replacing your dialog.tlk file and then re-installing those mods in the correct order. Remeber to install the Official patch and then fixpack before installing those mods as well.

To clarify - He means one of the mods wiped the label, i stand by my knowledge of no mods adding HLA's

hmm.. Ok, that makes sense, because i installed the patchs and mods in a crazy order (I was ignorant at the time).

TGTF: could you elaborate a bit on your suggestion? How do I replace that file, the only way I can think of is to do a re-install. ? I don't understand how replacing a single file can un-do all the changes by the mods. Is it that this is the only file that is in question and that the patchs/mods will just be re-applied to this file (in the proper order this time) ? thanks for clairification.

Basicly, what Lord ment, i think, was that if you un-install all your mods, then, you should have made a back-up on dialog file, which deals with all the text in the game, so you copy your back-up into your BG2 directory, then the text would be put back to normal, then you install the mods and patches again in the right order. If you don't have a backup of the dialog file, i can email you mine, if you need me to email you it, private message me with your email adress and i'll send it over

[EDIT] If i'm wrong, then you'll need to ask someone with more knowledge of the game than me, but i'll try to help none the less

The unlabelled HLA's sound like Scribe Scrolls & Create Potion. IIRC, they aren't standard HLA's for a Mage in the un-MOD'ed game, though, so I'm not sure that even doing a complete re-install would get them to show up for an Assassin->Mage.

They're there, becuase he is assasin, they'll appear, but he won't be able to use them, becuase they are theif HLA's. I'm pretty sure that would be the case...Hehe, i never know for certain...
