Alright, I'm playing through Baldurs Gate 2 for my second time. I just finished Shadows of Amn with a Fighter/Thief multiclass. Now Im playing through (with Throne of Bhaal) with a Half-elf Blade, chaotic good (shadowkeepered the alignment.. i wanted a fairy dragon familiar =D).

Anyways, last time I had thieving covered, and never picked up Imoen after I saved her. This time around, I'm going to get her in my party at Spellhold.

My current party is:

Me (Blade)
Viconia
Nalia
Jan
Minsc
Anomen

I plan on dumping Jan for Imoen. Now, my question is this:

Do you have unlimited time to complete desired quests after Spellhold? As in, Chapter 6 or whatever, after you escape the Underdark. Because if so, I am going to probably only do quests in Amn (other then Nalia's Keep), get my Stronghold, and leave trademeet and umar hills and such for when I have Imoen, so that she can atleast get a little experience and catch up a bit.

Have any of you done this? Also, will I have enough XP in my party to be strong enough to make it through the Underdark having only completing quests in and around Amn?

Thanks in advance..

yeah you should be able to do it, i havn't done it myself, but there are certain ways throgh the underdark with a small exp party

i dont want to make a cheap shortcut through though. I'm going to do everything I'd normally do if I had a lot of XP.

Now don't get me wrong... half of the XP in the game (maybe a little less than half) is in the city of Amn. My characters won't be weaklings.

I've done that before. You can wait until the very last minute to do any of the major quests, and most of the minor ones as well.

Awesome.

On another note, I'm in the Planar Prison, and I just got that Melodic Chain +3. Even though Ive seen it before, I usually just sold it, cause when I picked it up, I'd thinking to myself: "Hmmm... Chainmail usable only by Bards... how pointless, who wants to put a Bard in Chainmail and cancel all their spells?"... And I put it on my Blade. Holy crap! I can still cast spells. Lol. Beats the hell out of purchasing those Bracers of AC 3 from the Adventurer's Mart... this chain has an AC of 2. And it looks cool! Bards PWN. lol.. alright im done. Thanks for the responses.

The Bladesinger chain, indeed. It even comes in nifty if you take it with you to Throne of Bhaal ;)
