im about to start again, my 2nd time. im going to have a kensai/mage? pc and a swashbuckler also. i want to find a good swashbucker sond set and or a good portrait. are there many name generators around aswell?
also, im pretty sure you cannot dual class into your 2nd class as a kit, so i count have a mage/kensai i just really want to cast magic missile and stuff. fireball too. if i SK my PC shortly after dual classing to a mage kensai when i level up will my ac still go down like it should? i hope that makes sense |
You can have a Kensai/Mage. Just start with the Kensai kit, and dual-class to a mage.

no, you misunderstand most likely i didnt say it as clearly as i should. i want to be a mage (1st profession) then a kensai (2nd profesion)
|
Oh, then you can't do that without using SK, as you said. I believe it should still work, but I've never tried it.

thanks cobba, does anyone know if it works?

As for your earlier question, your AC should go down as you gain levels in your kensai class. Just remember that you will be starting at 1st level instead of 7-8 level, so it will take longer to get that lower AC. And if you only want to cast up to 3rd level spells from your mage class, you might as well go ahead and us SK to "dual" to kensai at the very beginning of the game. Give it a try and tell us what happens.</font> |

but will it continue to go down when i lvl up as a kensai

A Swashbuckler continues to get level-based AC bonuses, a Kensai does not. Kensai get a -2 bonus and that's it.
If, however, they did continue to get AC bonuses, they would be granted only while the Kensai half was active. So, a Kensai->Mage would get the Kensai AC bonuses before he Dualed, a Mage->Kensai would get them during all the time after he Dualed. |
oops my mistake
