Okay, I did a search on this but found nothing of much use. Are there any plans, hints, possibilities, etc. of there being a BG3? I know Black Isle is gone, but I had heard something about the rights to BG being sold to another company. I had thought of a very cool idea for a BG3 storyline, so I am just wondering if there is any hope for continuing the saga. Thanks!

Im really dreading a BGIII. I mean, it would be great n all to continue the game on, but BGII is so unbelievable perfect and I love the game so much, that I am dreading that a BGIII may let me down if I get it. I hope they don’t spoil the games essence, especially if it won’t be Black Isle involved.

I don’t want it to be like a crappy sequel to a really good film, to use that analogy.

I only dread a BGIII in that the storyline ends in BGII. BGIII would have to involve a totally new character and group of NPCs, IMO, along with a new yet connected storyline. Kind of like what Icewind Dale II is to Icewind Dale I.

The story is connected but at the same time it's a sequel.

I think BGIII would work best this way. You start off in Baldur's Gate again, with a small mission of some sort, and it turns out there's more involved then initially thought.

I wouldn't mind seeing some descendants of the original NPCs making cameos. It'd also be good if this newer game incorporated all the maps from BGI and BGII.

If you are going to do that then you might as well make a completely new game. I know what you are saying but one of the most lovable things (to me anyway) about the Baldur's Gate series is that it is one continual story, that is greatly enjoyable.

Maybe the idea of a new storyline would work, thinking about it. But for me, I would prefer it if the Baldur's Gate series, ended with BGII. I would love for there to be another, but if it differs too much from the essence of BG, it would ruin it for me. But then again, I don’t like change very much.

Some rumors say it's a prequel of sorts. Which I'm not so sure is wise.

Unless the PC is someone who helps Gorion kidnap the child near the end of the game...

Then the PC can be any class/race/gender.

I think Atari decided on it being a prequel (seem to remember reading that somewhere), but I'm just going off memory. And I wouldn't trust my memory. ;)

Hmmm, maybe it will be set during the Time of Troubles?

That would be pretty cool, though there is a small inconsistancy. Obviously Khalid and Jaheira would have to help you, but then drow their xp down to level one in time for BG. Maybe they would just be normal characters. Heh, toss Gorion, Elminster, and Cadderly into a party, maybe add some of Cadderly's friends for tanks, and you have a real contender.

Jerr Conner 02-02-2005 04:05 PM

I'd say just new NPCs. Jaheira and Khalid make an appearance but not as joinable NPCs. Maybe Gorion as an actual joinable NPC. The ultimate goal is t stop Bhaal from rising, but smaller quests before then lead to that.
