are you sure i thought that [ahem] If you're playing BG2:SoA, Stalkers can Backstab with any weapon, including Warhammers, Halberds (ouch), and the like. But with ToB installed, Stalkers can still use any weapon, but they can only Backstab with weapons a true-class Thief could use.

I believe the only SoA/ToB Stalker-Backstabbing issue that was changed was the usability of Valygar's Katana. True-class Thieves are restricted from using it, so technically it's not a valid Backstab weapon, which sucks for Valygar. But ToB (and/or the official patch, or BaldurDash, I forget which) resolves this problem: Valygar can Backstab with it, but Thieves can't use it.

I've never had just SoA, so I can't say for sure whether or not Stalkers were able to Backstab with things like Halberds, but I strongly doubt it.

To clarify my above post, yes, Stalkers can use weapons other than standard 'thief-only' weapons, but in terms of "with the Stalker's innate Backstab ability" and "still getting the bonus," then no, they can only Backstab with Thief-legal hardware.
