I know this is gonna sound stupid but what is the cloak of algeron (if that is how it is spelt) and where can it be found?
|
I do not know where it is, but it raises your charisma by two.
|
The cloaks is in the Feldpost inn in beregost on the second floor algeron has it the big guy looks like winthrop (spell) you have to Pickpocket or kill him. It ups chr by two and you can charm monsters.
|
It is one of the most powerful items in the game. It allows you to charm with a very high success rate--almost always succeeds (may take a several tries with creatures that have good saving throws vs. breath weapons, though). And once charmed the target is under your spell forever (unless you turn him with a hostile act of course). As has been mentioned, it raises charisma by 2--and btw, if you concentrate on doing rep increasing quests early on, by the time you get your rep up to 20 and have a character with 20 cha (18 + 2 from the cloak) doing the buying and selling, you will become very wealthy before you know it.

i told u guys i was stupid.........i already have this item i just didnt know about its charming abilities..thanxs alwayz

Yes indeed, algernons cloak is very powerful. I pickpocketed so I didnt get a rep decrease. With a tome, my charisma is now 21!

Well Algernon´s cloak has 65536 charges... its not unlimited, but well, the difference isnt a big deal is it ? . And there is another important difference between Algernon´s cloak and nymph´s cloak: Algernon´s can charm from a distance, while nymph´s cloak needs the target to be close to you.

Indeed, 65536 charges is a LOT of charges--that amounts to over 100 charges for each creature in the game (I'm assuming there are less than 700 surviors, after I clear every map screen in the Sword Coast). I don't use the Nymph Cloak for Charming, just for its CHA bonus--I give it to whoever got the Tome of CHA and the Helm of Glory for a nice 22. But by the time I pickpocket the Nymph Cloak, I've had Algernon's for over a month, so who the hell cares about the Nymph? With Algernon's, you can talk to Tamoko, Charm her as she's walking away, then kill--thus getting 3 copies of the Full Plate+1. Or you can deliberately let yourself get caught stealing, then Charm the Flaming Fist before they arrest you, then use them as reinforcements for tough battles. The uses are endless! And I think you can find the Cloak in BG2, as well......happy me!
(I'm also going to use Algernon's to help me cheat against the Demonknight, if I can't kill him normally. I've just GOTTA see if he has that Helm....) |
