Heyas everyone

Now, I dont know if its just me, but did anyone else know that Jan Jansen, was actually a Hollywood director?!

Nah, I didn't believe it at first either.

I found out this on IMDb and by jove I wondered what on earth it was on about. Why is he sometimes credited as Jan Jansen? Is it to do with Baldur's Gate II I wonder? Or did the creaters get the idea of Jan Jansen from him? Or is it all just a coincidence?

You decide

<span style="color: lightblue">It can't be because of the game that he's called that: the only thing marked "as Jan Jansen" is from 1995, 4 years before Jan Jansen was a published video game character. Possibly the game writers got the name from there, but there is only one way that we might find out for sure.

I think it's all just a coincidence.

"Jan Jansen" really isn't that uncommon of a name. "Jan" appears in several languages including the Dutch, Scandinavian, Czech, Polish and German of "Johannes", and in medevial english as a form of "John" (which is itself an english form of "Johannes"). So in short Jan=John, and from what I know Jansen is a fairly common last name, so it isn't that hard to belive that two different people could have made it up.

Jean = John = Shaun = Shawn = Sean = Ian = Ivan = Juan = Johann = Jan.

Now you know why prostitutes call all men "Johns." ;)

Now, if I could only find as many variations of the name "Marsha," I'd really have something.

All this reminds me of that time when one of my long lost relatives, Oswald Fiddlebender crash landed his ship in the backyard of our home returning from one his long lost potion quests in the Spine of the what'sit? Oh yes! Spine of the World. Oh, the furore he caused! And the almost irrepairable damage to the turnip stock! Not to mention the smell! And the worst part was, I got the blame for it. I mean, you'd think that we were the same person for all the ruckus Oswald caused!

lol @ Six.

Tee hee. Jan Jansen had something to do with Showgirls?! I always knew he was more than seemed under that custom armour! :D

*dawdles around for a bit, wondering what boiled turnips really do taste like*.

Actually, the prostitutes referring to men as "Johns" come from the word johnson, meaning roughly, the male sex organ. My condolences to all men called Jean, John, Shaun, Shawn, Sean, Ian, Ivan, Juan, Johann, Jan

Personally, I'd like to fill a large room with men whose names are euphemisms for penis, and see how long it takes them to catch on. I did actually once work for a guy who was named Dick Johnson.

Okay, I am now officially leaving this thread before Ziroc gets the urge to start smiting.
