Alright, so while i was looking at my swashbuckler's saves etc, i saw he DOES have a backstab multiplyer, but it's grounded at 1. So, with the rouge rebalancing mod, when i get the shortsword of backstabbing, it should go up to 2, making my swashbuckler able to backstab. It won't be a great one, but it will do double my normal damage. Although, i'll ditch it when i get something a little...Bigger.

IMHO the main advantage of backstabbing is the THAC0 bonus. The damage multiplier does not work on the really tough enemies and is useless on the weak ones. There ARE certain enemies (hostile NPCs, Illithids) where backstabbing is a good idea, but doubling won't do the trick here.

I'll just see how effective it is when i get it. But i can't beat improved mae'var, so i'm not sure how long it'll be. By the time i DO finally get the sword, it'll probably have little use anyway.

Rogue Rebalancing can actually provide 2 SSoBs, and Item Upgrade includes Quietus. Each of those add +1 to the Backstab Multiplier, so by Dual-wielding, a Swashbuckler can achieve Triple, a regular Thief can get Septuple, and an Assassin can theoretically get Nonuple.

I don't know if the SSoB's Backstab multiplier carries over to non-Thieves. If so, Stalkers can reach Quintuple, but if not, they can still get Quadruple using Quietus alone.

Hmm. But i doubt i'll need it by the time i've beaten Mae'var. I tried once, and go slaughtered.

<font color=plum>Two bits of advice (if you haven't tried them already).

1) Drink a Potion of Invisibility and sneak into the cage on the left. Mae'var's assassins can somehow "hear" you and will come rushing right up to your character - even when you're invisible. So lead them into the cage, then run out and close the door behind you. They will still be able to shoot at you, but if you run back to the "top" of the cage (where you come down the steps), you should be able to back up enough to pick them off one at a time.

2) After that, just sit and WAIT. Eventually all of Mae'var's buffs go down on their own (it will take about 10-15 minutes real time IIRC) and then he is MUCH easier to attack.</font>
