I want to stick to a "mostly good" theme.

Here's my current party:

Cleric/Ranger
Jaheira
Minsc
Imoen

These guys were all in "BG1" with me, and I need some more NPCs.

BTW, this is a short version of my thread on the ToB forum. Thanks!

I'm also thinking of changing my protagonist. Is having a C/R as the protagonist a wise idea, considering I'm insistent on having Jaheira there too?

---since I love dwarves so much, I am considering changing my protagonist, but not playing BG1 over again, into a dwarf F/C. Although inferior to the C/R, I might just have more fun with him.

You might want to add Hear'Dalis or Edwin in there.

Edwin would blow the 'mostly good' theme.

Personally, I'd say Aerie would be a very good addition. It would mean you covered all your bases (3 fighters, 3 clerics, 2 mages and a thief) and could leave the 6th slot free to pick up NPCs for their quests and then drop them again.

The only problem is that he will soon lose 1 mage and his only thief. I would recommend Jan Jansen to fill this opening, since he can actually fill both slots that will be opened.

I agree that Aerie should be your FIRST addition to your party. She can "load up" on healing spells, allowing your PC and Jaheira to perhaps choose a couple of extra "buff" spells instead of memorizing only healing spells. That gives you two strong fighters up front and a great back-up fighter/healer in the second line of defense. After getting Aerie, you should add Jan for the thieving skills your party is missing. This also gives you two mages, which means LOTS of buff spells and LOTS of damage spells against the enemy.

After that, I agree with Andraste about leaving the 6th spot open to allow different NPC's to join your merry group long enough to complete their individual quests.

Depends on when you were planning the trip to Spellhold: If you're in a hurry to get Imoen back, I would go
C/R or F/C
Jaheira
Minsc
Yoshimo->Imoen
Nalia
Keldorn

And if you're spending some more time in Chapters 2-3, I would build
C/R or F/C
Jaheira
Minsc
Jan
Mazzy
Korgan->Imoen

Between your PC and Jaheira, the Priest scroll is already very well covered, so you clearly don't need Aerie. I included Korgan in the 2nd list because he's a damn good Tank for the early part of the game, and if he dies, your mostly Good party won't be all heartbroken about it.
