How does BG2 determine which hit dice to use for multiclass characters? I created a fighter thief. his con gives him +4/level but I don't understand the rule for what the game actually uses d6 or d10.
On a side note do you get better roles when you wait to level up the character until both classes are able to or can you do just as well leveling up each time a class is ready? Chris |
level each time
each level up gets you half rolled hit points e.g. fighter/thief 18 CON fighter level up: ((1d10)+4)/2 theif level up ((1d6)+2)/2 [ 09-08-2004, 03:35 AM: Message edited by: Armen ] |
Correct table looks like thus~:
Fighter level up (1d10+2)/2 Thief level up (1d6+2)/2 This is because the CON bonus is divided equally between the classes on level up, and not awarded twice. The main problem with multi-classes, especially when 3 classes are used is levelling up in more than one class at the same time. Calculating correct hitpoints can be a killer. |
<span style="color: lightblue">Are you sure that BG2 works that way? I'm sure I've read somewhere that BG1 does, but BG2 is more sensible...
EDIT: Ok, I was half right... apparently BG1s multiclass HP rolls are exactly as you say, while BG2s are completely illogical. Detailed explanation from Six's Site: Quote:

1/80 chance? Man, no wonder Jaheira's hp is so low for a fighter multi.

Damn I'm glad I asked this question. The calculation was even more detailed than I ever thought it could be. Thaks Gang!
