I have to say, it's a new and challenging thing taking on a group of enemies with one guy, but it feels so good when you pick up that victory :D

Improved Mae'Var
After choosing the Sorcerer as a solo character, at level 11, I decided to take on Improved Mae'Var to see if I could defeat him. And I have to say, it wasn't the easiest thing to do.

First off, I put a scroll of Mislead and Web into my quick slots with a Wand of Cloudkill. Before I descended to the basement floor, I caste Haste, Mirror Image, Stoneskin, and Spirit Armor as prebuffs. When I went down the stairs, I first casted Mislead then went on to get into a semi-close range and used Web and the Wand of Cloudkill. To hamper them a bit more, I used Confusion and Glitterdust.

Since Mislead is more useful than I thought, I pounded away at the thieves with MMM but then I got a little too reassured because evidently Mae'Var went behind me and killed my image so my invisibility was dispelled. But after casting Protection from Magical Weapons a bit, I blew away the remaining thieves with Sunfire and Cone of Cold up until all that was left was Mae'Var himself, but I had a small problem. He was Near Death so my last Cone of Cold killed him and took all the items he had with him, so I must ask is it cheating to go into Shadowkeeper and take the items I would've gotten and put them in my inventory?

More Solo stories to come...

It sounds like you turned him to ice, and he broke apart... all the items shattered, so they're gone forever. Other than that - good battle story and good luck in your solo endeavors.

Moral: Avoid all spells that damage loot. Happily, gold and quest items cannot be destroyed, and Mae'Var doesn't carry anything else that a Sorcerer could use anyway.

Afterthought: Oh, sure, his Ioun Stone. Yeah, like you're not already wearing a better one.

In role-playing sence its cheating if you shadowkeep the items in, without the use of cone of cold you would have been destroyed by Mae'Var (or did you got any other destructing spells under your sleafs that moment?)

As you stated it was your last cone of cold, it was all or nothing, and also what Six stated the only loss you got is that you can't sell the loot he carries, and you'll be missing out on (improved)kitthix IIRC.. :(

Yeah, I'm not too heart broken from destroying the loot, nothing I could have used anyway. But I'm going to need a bit of advice from some of the vets for this next battle.

Now I've fought TorGal before, and I still had a hell of a time trying to beat the Improved version even with six party members. If anyone has their own guide on how to defeat him with a sorcerer, please post because I'm all ears.

... My advice would be to get some summons first before you go charging off to do some of the tougher battles. Trademeet is fairly easy experience, if you know what you're doing. Get the Boots of Speed if you can. Do the lesser battles (Mencar, Delosar's inn, Sewers, stuff like that). Neb/the Skinner's Murder.

Now, my experience with soloing a Mage in Tactics is that Sunfire is godly. It kills Trolls if you've got them Slowed, it doesn't harm yourself, mages sometimes forget Protection from Fire, it goes through Magic Resistance, is a pretty good combination with Greater Malison(not many will make their saves, easily doubling the damage), and it casts instantly with Robe of Vecna. Therefore, my tactics regarding Torgal's group usually go like this:

Mirror Image, Stoneskin, green Protection from Fire. (no Chaotic Commands, so you'll have to find a substitute; Potions of Clarity, IIRC, should do the trick). Blur. You know, the normal stuff. Dodge in and layer the place with Slows. Don't leave a single Troll un-Slowed. Then, Sunfire all of the suckers. Slow will slow down the regen rate, leaving them open to your attacks. Keep on moving. Don't let that many hits hit you. They're all melee, so use that to your advantage. Once the Trolls are dead, Haste (from a scroll if need-be) some good level summons (Mordy Sword/Skeleton Warriors. Sword Spiders aren't half bad either). Send them in, and Remove Magic the Mage's protections. Watch them die.

Of course, tactics change regarding your character's level/spell selection/equipment. What are they?

To be honest, since you don't really have anything that can slow down the Spirit Troll/Torgals's regeneration rate (and no Greater Malison to try to make sure that everyone will take double damage), I would advise you to wait to take them on.

What's MMM? Minor Minute Meteor(does it even exist?)??
