Okay, 'bout a month and a half ago I started a new game. Since I'd never used HD, I decided to add him to my party. When I was looking at his character sheet though, I noticed something odd - namely, he had scads of resistances. I believe it went something like 50% cold/magcold, 25% fire/magfire, and 10% slash/crush/mis/pierce resis. I assumed it was because he was a tiefling, so I just smiled and went on with my game.
Now, fast forward to today. I've started another new game (Shapeshifter) and added him to my party. Once again, though, I noticed something odd. This time, he had no resistances. I'm at a loss. My question is this - has anyone ever seen HD have resistances in their game? If so, what were the numbers? It's not a huge deal, I'd just like to know what's going on. |
i assumed as a tiefling he would have some resistances but that seems a bit overzealous.
what equipment did he have/spells were active? |
This was 'literally' right out of the dungeon; the only equipment he had was Chaos/Entropy, neither of which adds to resistances. And yeah, I know what you mean about the resis., but since he only has 44 hp at start (and is kinda meant to spend at least SOME time up front)...

It depends WHEN you take him. If you are high level then Haer is pretty high level too and at that level he gains some resistances since he is a Tiefling. You can check his different levels of joining you in SK.

Thanks, but that doesn't make sense to me. I pretty much rushed to get him in both games, and I'm pretty sure he was tenth level each time.

There are five varients of Haer'Dalis. Only the Level 19 one has the innate resistances.

Thanks, everyone. I found the diff. levels, and I just SK'd the resistances in. (50% cold/magcold, 25% fire/magfire/elec, 15% phys) I figure he shouldn't have to wait until practically ToB levels to get any benefit from his heritage.

<span style="color: lightblue">It's not a matter of he has to wait that long: it's a matter of YOU have to wait that long. The creature to use as "Haer'Dalis" in your game, and in your party, is decided based on your level when you first meet him (and possibly when you first step into Mekrath's lair).

Actually waiting to lvl 19 for a bard only takes 1980000 XP, still more than a million away from the cap. :D
|
so if you take HD without the resistances, he doesn't get them when he hits level 19?
