I'm a huge newb to this game and this format of game so i have a few questions.
1. On weapons i was wondering how to tell the delay/dmg, i see the things like 1D9, but i dont know which is which. 2. Is there anywhere like a bank to store items? 3. Whenever i get one quest i go to do it, then get assigned another, does it matter when i do these quests? 4. My game always crashes for seemingly no reason, anyone know why? i run a: P4, 2.4 ghz, 768 ram, 64mb gforce 4, windows XP, its the only program that i run at that time and the only one that does this. Any help would be awesome, thanx |
1) 1D9 means you roll one 9-sided dice. 2D10 would mean rolling two 10-sided dice. One of the most common dice is a d20.
2) 'Fraid not... You've played Runescape, haven't you? :D 3) Not really, no. However, some quests have a time limit. Don't worry too much about this, as only a small fraction of quests are affected by time. 4) Hmmm... Are you patched up to the latest version? And welcome to Ironworks! |
so if it was 2D10 would the max damage be 20? so you want those numbers as high as possible?
Never played runescape, and thanks |
Technically, you can store excess items in containers all over the game, and they wont disappear unless that map changes. Said most of the stuff Jaradu got in my first post, but IW went all psycho on me. :(
Anyways, Welcome to Ironworks! |

The Speed Factor is what determines your 'delay.' Weapons with low Speed Factors, such as Daggers, make their attacks earlier in the round than those with high Speed Factors, such as Flails. Quote:
1) You stash your gear in Map Area A, 2) Something happens, and the map changes to Map Area B, and then 3) All future trips to that place will result in your getting sent to Area B, meaning you can't ever get back to Area A to get your stuff back. It's perfectly safe to store your equipment in an area that has already changed. Quote:

2) BG is just going to crash, better just get used to it. It was rushed in the last stages of development and not all the kinks were ironed out. 3) Those computers using a motherboard built with a VIA chipset tend to be buggier playing BG than other systems. 4) Try to learn when your game crashes. That'll help you dignose and probably treat the problem. |
thank you all very much, helped alot

I recommend selling most of your extra items in a store. You shouldn't need to save more items than you can carry (unless maybe if you're soloing with just 1 character).
To reduce crashes, I highly recommend installing both SOA and the expansion, TOB -- and then install the correct TOB patch, version .26498. And then install the 3rd-party fix called "Baldurdash" (install the correct one depending if you have SOA or SOA+TOB). You can find links to the patch, and Baldurdash, on my new web page: http://www.boomspeed.com/colbruce/bg2.html |

When you first exit Chateau Irenicus, there are two doors on the level behind you that lead to separate hotels/inns. If you go into the second door (the one farthest to the right on your screen), you will see a set of stairs leading up right next to the entrance. Upstairs is a party that provides a decent fight - especially right after the Chateau. The leader is a dwarf with a bad attitude. I believe he is a straight fighter, but he may be a beserker (not sure). Either way, he is pretty tough to kill. His buddies include a thief, barbarian and a mage with his familiar. As I said, the fight is fairly challenging (especially the first couple of times you try it), but once you kill them, YOU can take over their upstairs room. This is nice because it gives you a safe place to come and rest and there are 3 chests (IIRC) that have some minor items in them. But you can also use these chests to store YOUR items in. I do agree with Hank Parsons that it is better to just sell your extra items. If it isn't good enough to equip on one of your party members when you get it, chances are it won't be good enough later either. But if you like to keep what you find, this is a good place to store them early in the game. |
Can you guys tell me where can I find the Girdle of Frostgiant strenght in SOA?
Please tell me the exact location if you can. Thanks,if you need any any item locations I can tell you. |
