I believe you can install it at any point, but things you "missed" are missed out on. If you're just in Chapter 1 you could always start over...

DS gives you many great spells and weapons. If you can tolerate the annoying crashes IMO it is a much more interesting game with those items. If you want to play with DS you do have to start a game from scratch with DS installed, though.

WRONG!! This is really, wrong.
You MUST restart the game once you start DCotSC.
BAD things happen if you dont.

It works with TotSC, it actually require it.

In order to get it to run for me I had to start from scratch all the way. Did the following:

Installed BG1
Installed TOTSC
Downloaded TOTSC patch (http://www/3dupdates.com/patches/baldursgatet.html)
Installed DSOTSC
Downloaded a DirectX patch (for multiplayer capabilities) at http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/bg/...files/patches/

Ha! Errr, well, as Lemernis said though, kinda crashes every now and then, but only sometimes, very random (odd though)

At Team Bg I was told the crashes that I get when my party is approached by a monster upon entering a new area is probably the result of dirextx8. But I need that to play a BG2 campaign I'm in. So I live with it. It's just a minor annoyance, really. Crashes are fairly routine in online MP games, so I'm kind of used to it by now anyway.
