If you replay the game like sum odd 6 times, you can get 25's in every stat!

That's true tiamat,but is does take out lot
of the challenges,doesn't it? |
Or you could do what my son does and hack the stats---but then why bother playing?
::sigh:: kids these days! |
What do you all think is the threshhold for a reasonable total number of attribute points? I'm one of those folks who isn't willing to sit there all afternoon rolling dice until I get a roll I'm satisfied with. I do adjust the atribute score with Gatekeeper but I try to keep them realistic. I figure a 92 (four 18's and 2 10's) for Bhaalspawn isn't outrageously high (he or she is semi-divine after all). But I guess for player characters other than the main character it should probably be a bit lower in order to be realistic. Your thoughts?

I also think as a kind of god or child of one you should have higher stats then a "normal" hero. Thus, I give al the tomes to my main char (and because the stats are lost on the NSCs), although the PnP rules do not allow the usage of more than one tome. But normally I don not edit my stats. I roll until I am satisfied with them. This is quite easy with a ranger, I found.

Paladins have very high minimas so I got once 97 - rolling (after tomes I it is 105 ) But I was unable to roll 90 (once I got 91 but STR was like 18/05 - after 2 hours!) for my figher or figher-mage. In my opinion reasonable strategy would be: roll 10 times, average and then add lets say about 6,10 points. |

Of course, I usually play a ranger or fighter/ fighter combo, so they need all the str, const and dex they can get! Surely I must be one of the luckier rollers here as I do not have to roll for hours to get decent stats! (uh-oh, have I just jinxed myself? ) Typically I roll for about 10-20 minutes and get pretty good numbers. I boost the str as high as possible, const needs to be maxed as well, char should be at least 17, the rest depends on who's doing the fighting and how. ::shrugs:: works for me. All else fails....the Holy Gatekeeper may be summoned ;) (but he's usually invoked by the NPCs, not me ;) ) (Immy, for example, usually has her str augmented to 11 or 13.) |
why bother playing the game if you are just going to cheat and make it easy. Rerolls and tomes are part of the game and therefore legitimate within the spirit of the challenge but playing multiple times to get all 25 stats? Come on there is more to life.
