Hello guys and girls. =)
I´m a brazilian guy,so sorry about my inglesh, and I´m new here, in iron works. =) I´d readed the posts and I liked the forum so much. It´s a great forum. =) I´d like to create an exotic party. But what´s a exotic party ?? Here, all of my friends allways play with the most common classes, like barbarians, druids, paladins. But i like other characters which no one wants to play, like Bards, Monks etc. I´m called crazy between them with my "strange" characters. I´m trying to create the most "strange" party. But i´ve no much time to try all the classes and kits. So I´d like to know the most uncommon kits/classes in the game. I´ve in my party: Bard/Blade, Monk, Druid/ShapeShifter. Thanks. =) |
Hmmm... well, opinions will certainly vary, but if you want a custom, "exotic" party, I'd say...
PC Undead Hunter (Paladin) Wizard Slayer (Fighter) Cleric/Thief multiclass Enchanter (Wizard) Jester (Bard) [open slot for NPC's & maybe Imoen] ...or if you want to use "underused" NPC's, maybe... PC Cleric/Thief multiclass Mazzy Valygar Cernd Haer Dalis' Nalia There's bound to be many other suggestions, though. - Imrahil |
Welcome the the Iron Works :D
To Imrahil- if i ever use a party i go for Valygar, mazzy and cernd quite a bit. To Gardner- Jan Jansen isnt used very much, and niether is Aerie.(becuase she dies alot, lol ) |
Well I use Aerie every time i play the game i adore her because she can cast both cleric and mage spells. Well in my exotic party would probably be Edwin and for the rest i don't know now.

Creating an exotic character is easy - just focus on the character's personality rather than the skills provided by each class or kit, then find the class that suits your character the best.
For instance, I've been looking over the various skills for different classes, because I want to play something "different" and a bit challenging. I was looking at the Bard classes and had never really thought about playing a Jester, but then the class itself suggested a legendary character to me. So I created a human jester that has bright green hair, and wears purple clothing with orange accents. His name - THE JOKER!!! (Batman's legendary foe). Admittedly, the Bard class isn't the most suitable for Joker. To truly create the Joker from the Batman comics, I will need to use Shadowkeeper and make him multi-classed between Jester and Assassin...and he would definitely need to be Chaotic Evil (although Chaotic Neutral is the "default" alignment of characters considered to be "madmen" in BGII). Another very interesting class I noticed was Swashbuckler. They are considered the BEST "fighter" among the thieves class. I also noticed that half-orcs can be swashbucklers. So just imagine a half-orc pirate and go from there (or you could try to recreate Capt. Jack Sparrow if you wished). How about a female Undead Hunter named Buffy? The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. |
A male Vampire Hunter named Van Helsing. Haha. With proficiencies in Crossbow.

I would possibly add monk to Imrahil's custom party, just because they're lots of fun. :D |
I liked Mazzy very much, but not Valygar and Aerie.
Haer Dalis' and Edwin are the most interesting NPC's in my opinion. Now i´ve in my party: Gardner (ShapeShifter), Edwin, Haer Dalis', Nalia and Minsc. After keldorn´s side guest i will pick Mazzy. A funny thing that happened to my was the chat between Dalis' and Edwin. They will keep chatting to each other ?? They're so funny. So: My party to the game will be: Me, Mazzy, Minsc, Edwin, Haer and Imoen. About the exotic multiplayer party maybe: ShapeShifter, Blade, Monk, Unded Hunter(Imrahil sugetion) and a Fighter/Mage(Elric of Melnibone) or a Mage Slayer. What do you think ?? Cerek the Barbaric, i loved your sugestion. I never looked for this side. =) thank you for all sugestions. =) (I´m in chapter 3) |
Who are you going to be? I would suggest some kind of clerical spellcaster: you don't have any divine spellcasters in your singleplayer group, and you will find out how much you need them as you get further through the game. In order not to spoil the game for ya: are you sure you want all those different alignments and personalities in one party? You've definitely got some differing worldviews in there. ;)
That's a pretty cool multiplayer party, but why don't you consider a Fighter dualled to Mage? That way, you can have some really exotic characters (Berserker=>Mage, Wizard Slayer=>Mage, roleplaying that will be fun.) |
