I thought I finally had a decent base of operations outside the annoying Copper Coronet and this screwhead Isea whisks Nalia off (leaving me stuck having to go collect the annoying and much less attractive Jeheira) Some guards at the Nalia castle gave me some hints about how to put the arm on this Isea cat. I found Barg who told me Isea was smuggling and I purloined his ledger book. The guys at the Presidential Palace (or whatever that is) tell me it's not enough info. So now where do I go? I'm not quite ready to deal with the house of Vampires, so I'd like to finish off Isea. Anyone have any leads?
Some of the detective stories in the game seem a little lacking. I am very bad at puzzles, preferring the tactical part of the game, but it seems like some of the subplots are not very well thought out- eg: Jaheira/Baron Ployer. It went like this for me: Ployer lays the curse, I get leads from the Copper C, then I cut a deal with the wizards to turn on Ployer. But after that, nothing. I had to basically conduct a house to house search to roust out Ployer. Some of this kind of thing could have been better designed, I think.

Hmmm IIRC those are the only two pieces of evidence you need, but I can't remember that much really. Someone else will clarify or correct me. And I think that post needs spoiler tags. Oh and by the way, the Baron Ployer quest - Jaheira deducts that since Baron Ployer is poor, he will probably be living in a cheap place with or without permission. Does the derelict home spring to mind?

you need to gather more evidence, ask around and maybe you'll get some more info, check your journal as it can often give clues you might have missed first time around.

Spoiler warning

You need to enter Isasa's home (the estate is in his familys name and in the govenment district), you also need to talk to some people in the dock's district and in the tavern where you first meet baron ployer..

You need three peices of evidence for force an enquiry, after that you can get nalia back, and later finish the keep quest.

Hint follows. No major spoilers, since it seems to me you missed something.

You gots to go down to the docks, see, and talk to this guy, see, in this seedy tavern by the waterfront, and he'll give you the dirt on Isea, you got me? That rat Barg gave ya a lead on this, and you have to follow through if you're any private dick worth his badge.

True. The guy (I forget his name) who approached you right after Nalia was kidnapped mentioned two things to you:
1) "Look the the Docks and a man named Barg."
2) "I was not the one who arranged to have the door to Isaea's Estate, in the Government District, unbarred."

Barg himself leads you to another clue. Don't depend on the game to explicitly tell you every little thing to do; be intuitive and think things out.

BTW, the clues leading to the Derilict House are Jaheira's pointing out that Ployer mentioned that he "sleeps beneath rags," indicating a squalorous abode, and Bernard says that the other Harper (whose name I have also forgotten, man, I'm slipping) was dumped in the eastern part of the Slums.

The only explanation I can think for this, is that youve somehow found jAheiras ugly sister, 'cause Nalia ain't got nothing on Jaheira! Just look at her eyes and lips!!! To each his own, I guess...

As to the Baron Ployer sidequest, I resisted using 'pre-encounter' knowledge a couple of times in dealing with his encounter when you have Jaheira in the party...
In fact, the first time I dropped her from the party in sheer annoyance at the emotional baggage she had become. The second time, I killed Ployer on the spot & dropped her aswell. Very cold hearted, I know, but there are other vast subquests and enough NPCs with them which are much more interesting to follow. :D
(Korgan, Edwin, Valygar...)

So I wouldn't be getting to hung up or critical about this quest.
The world is far too large and full of intrigue to care too much. ;)

Q'alooaith 05-16-2004 02:20 AM

Jeheira's got a very "flat" shaped face, while nalia has a "bumpy" face..

PersonalyI think Jeheira's been hit one too many time's with a frying pan over the face..

At the risk of going off-topic, I would imagine a pampered noble like Nalia would know that a wet teabag compress or perhaps foundation with a yellow tint will help clear up those troublesome undereye circles.
