Very nice. Rapid improvement I must say. When you go after Gaxx I recommend the Mace of Disruption +2. It's a lichkiller.
Since you are pretty close to HLA's I guess Belm ain't worth the trip. Just get the scarlet ninja-to instead.

as overpowered as he is,i still have one question.I dont have any spells higher than level 5 or 6 i forget which becuase evry time i try and learn a decent one it says: You have failed to the spell to your magebook.
On level 4,only spell i have is fire sheild red!!i get extra spells with Dak'kons blade but i havnt got many spells,so how do i get new ones?Is it to do with my intelligence score?

Xen 04-26-2004 03:18 PM

That`s becuase Bards cannot learn more spells then up to level 6. Actually they can but you need Ease of Use Mod for that. Then they are like Robocop. But that it`s not legit. But who cares? It`s your game. Play as you wish.

Bards only have up to level 6 spells, but can cast other spells from scroll. I strongly suggest you save up some timestop scrolls for those insane battles. I have currently used 3 time stops in total (including the one from Limited Wish) on Balthazar and Abizagal.
You can load/reload when you try to scribe scrolls. It's cheezy and unclean and I suggest you only do it if you desperately need a spell in the book. Try drinking potions to raise your intelligence before mass scribing. Potion of genius + potion of mind focussing brings intelligence up to 21. The success rate for intelligence 15 is 65% and it's 96% for 21. Also down a potion of mater thieving and go on a stealing spree. Just flick the scrolls into a few cases and wait until you have them all. I strongly suggest you use saving/reloading here, because this part IS buggy. In BG1 you suffered a rep decrease and guards were summoned and you had to pay a fine/bribe. Sensible. In BG2 it just turns an otherwise completely non-combatant merchant hostile. Stupid stupid stupid. Just count the number of times you get caught and drop off 500*catches in a donation to a temple.

Yes. Lower Intelligence = lower chance of reading a spell. IF you really, really, really need to memo those scrolls and you don't mind a bit of powergaming, drop the difficulty to Easy and then scribe. You'll make it every time.

Oh, and I eventually found out that fun doesn't always equal powerful. What's the fun in defeating an enemy in 2 seconds? I always get a kick out of finishing Windspear Hills right out of the dungeon due to strategy and planning, but it means a whole lot less when you're at level 30, buffed to the max, and drop him with a single hit. Have fun while the fun lasts.

Xen 04-26-2004 05:36 PM

If memory serves Bards start getting their HLA`s on level 24.
