Elminster and Raistlin combined, on a HUGE field, no cover 5X5 miles, Protagonist starts at max distance, or 2 miles away if melee. A party IS permitted, as are summoned creatures. There is NO limit to summoning (Besides what they can normally summon)
|
protagonist is immediately slaughtered when raistlin goes back in time and kills him 10 mins before he takes the field

That's easy.
You create an ultimate party and everyone starts summoning planetars and skeleton warriors. You buff up with Chaotic Commands and Death Wards and everyone gets a Robe of Vecna and Amulet of Power. Then... Elminster summons the Simbul. The Simbul summons the other Seven Sisters. Laeral brings her husband Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun. Storm Silverhand brings Queen Amlauril of Evermeet. The Planetars turn on you for trying to make them attack such good people, with connections to the divine. And Elminster lights up Elminster's Eversmoking Pipe which has nifty magical abilities, but, more importantly, he could smoke the ashes of the PC and the PC's party because it was all over before it started. And that's leaving out every member of the Harpers and the population of Evermeet and Shadowdale and Silverymoon and many citizens of Waterdeep who would die to protect Elminster And Company. Hehehe, two awesome responses!

Oddly enough, Raistlin only has a 17 Int in 2nd Ed rules, making him unable to learn and cast level 9 spells.
However, anybody who gets 10 extra spells per level and can control the flow of time, as well as warp spell effects on a whim might not need level 9 spells. Look at how he warped a Shocking Grasp spell on his apprentice Dalimar, leaving a wound that could never be healed. I don't think Raistlin and Elminster would fight each other... They would know better, knowing the consequences of their own power if they cut loose. |
Oh, I also forgot to mention that Khelben summons all the other Lords of Waterdeep. And they all summon their bodyguards and followers. And all of this probably attracts Mystra's attention, and you don't know what she might do in a case like this. Let's not forget the church of Eilistraee that would fly to the defense of Qilue...
And the list goes on and on and on and on and on. To be fair, the PC gets the Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate and the Flaming Fist, the population of Nashkel and maybe a group of Amnish soldiers, and let's not forget the Trademeet militia. The PC would get Suldanesselar if Amlauril wasn't with Elminster And Company. So in the end, who would *you* bet on? |
Minsc is in the party right?
I would place all bets on Boo... All are powerless against fuzzy wuzzy widdle Boo. |
"its not what u know, its who u know" seems to be the motto here.
In the case of the Planetars couldn't u just summon fallen ones or something? And couldn't Elminster summon Dire Hamsters to kick boos arse? |
Reminder-
ToB Spoiler sort of Edwin fought elminster alone and lost. Edwin is the most powerful spellcaster in the whole game (one that is available to you anyway). And what chance stands a fighter?? Time stop, shape change dead fighter. Time stop, harm, a punch afterwards, dead fighter. Fighters have no chance what so ever. Period. BTW, it will be nice to have some mod that will allow you to fight elminster (alone) and kill him. I never liked him anyway. |
