Hello. This is a problem that someone should fix in a fixpack/patch. It might not be a problem to us here at IW, because most of us knows how to use Shadowkeeper. Now, in real life. It is IMPOSSIBLE to put a key in a box. And lock in the key in the box with the same key, right? Well, i got the thief stronghold, and my stongbox key, and went to the strongbox. Quicksaved, opened the box, and put in the strongbox key. The box would instantly lock itself upo, and it was impossible to get it out of there, since the lock in unpickable. And you may think: "So what? ill just hack it right back to my inventory using shadowkeeper". And you could do that, but imagine someone who is playing Baldurs gate for the first time, takes the stronghold, and accidently puts the key into the box. Pow! No more strongbox. And maybe it is not a big matter, but what if you have the Smuggler shipment and the key to a certain shadowmasters lair in there. Then you are screwed.

I have a rather simple solution.

The point of a strongbox is that you lock it and take the key.

Do that. : P

I don't think any self respecting PC, unless he hacked his intelligence to be lower than 3, would be stupid enough to put his own key into his strongbox when it is magically warded. ;)

And ZFR, I've never experienced that problem. I find it very easy to shoot lightning bolts from my fingers... My problems lie in casting death spells.. : (

I've seen a number of locks that lock without the key. All manner of padlocks, to name but a few. My front gate locks without a key. It's fortunate that a key is needed to open it, though.

As for what manner of self respecing PC locks himself out of his own "box" (read house, car)...well, my intelligence must be 3, then!

I've never completed the thief stronghold, but I wonder why one needs a strongbox when you can leave stuff in a cabinet in someone else's house and they won't touch it...

Yeah, but you get a little extra roleplaying from leaving it in a strongbox

Yes. A strongbox in a den full of thieves or a house full of stupid peasants.. : P hm. ;)

<span style="color: lightblue">The box seems to have little people living in it: knock on it, and it will open.
