possible spoilers**********
My lvl 17 human thief (start of chpt 4) has what i consider to be an abysmal 'Most Powerful Vanquished', the dreaded... bone golem. I have been using that bow that fires phantom arrows for a while and am considering dual wielding in order to achieve some more 'noteworthy kills'. It is embarrassing having the same MPV as eerie. What is your current MPV and is it worse than mine? |
well, the thing is that MPV doesn't really indicate how efficient or *good* a character is. Since the battle is always a team effort, any character would just happen to get the kill. Quite frequently tanks got more *noteworthy* kills since they're in the front line slashing and curshing; however, without spellcasters' effort, some powerful enemies simply won't be affected by tanks' weapons. Also, when spellcasters grow stronger, their magic could be more powerful than fighters' weapons and strength. My point is that there's no shame if your MPV doesn't look impressive as long as your PC contributes killing tough enemies; sometimes, who gets the kill involves luck (at the right moment, the last strike or last spell to slay the enemy).

I know but songs are sung about dragon slayers not dragon worriers!
This isn't a serious post is it? what is your current MPV? |
well, I jsut finished a BG saga game (from BG to ToB, with most of the Tactics components and Ascension installed). so in that one, no *current,* it's in the end, my Kensai -> Mage has Irenicus the Slayer <the Tactics version> (before that was Firkaag). ASAIK, tactics give out the 2nd highest (only second to Bodhi) exp for killing Irenicus the Slayer, and so even by the end of ToB, the MPV didn't change.
as for a current game, I have one which is in Chapter 6 now, and my Sorcerer gets Thaxll'ssillyia (the shadow dragon in Temple Ruin) as MPV. But hey, I'm playing powerful classes, and so it's not really *fair* |
Try having Kobold as your MPV in Chap6.

I go out of my way to avoid situations like that... I try to give everyone one good kill that they brag about.. It's pretty easy, too. Just have everyone back off at Near Death and have the character in question finish the creature off. For example (spoilers)
. . . . . . . Mazzy got the Shadow Dragon, Imoen got Bodhi, Viconia got the Unseeing Eye, and Jahiera got Firky. I can't *stand* to have someone's most powerful vanquished as something like "Lich" so I try to let each character vanquish at least one impressive foe with a specific name. |

L* my Drow Wizard in Icewind Dale 2 currently has the exact same MPV :D
|
My Drow Druid did too! The whole game!
And she killed some of the most powerful enemies in the game! |
I'll echo Illumina and argue that ensuring everybody has at least 1 good kill is precisely what spells like Feeblemind and Symbol:Stun are for. My personal favorite is the Unseeing Eye: Just unequip your Tank's weapon(s) and have him zap the beastie, then walk on up and KO the sucker. Then have your party member with the dumbest MPV wander up for a free poke.
What chaps my hide are Improved Yaga-Shura's high-EXP cronies with the dumb names: Lieutenant Cleric, Lieutenant Thief, etc. |
