What level should I multiclass my kensai to a mage
|
*study* this table carefully first before making any decision:
http://www.geocities.com/sixospades/bg/exp.htm usually people dual Kenasi to mage at either lvl 9 or lvl 12. If you have a full 6 people party (=leveling up slower), probably at lvl 9 since you can get the kenasi ability back faster. if you have fewer people in the party, lvl 12 is good in that you can get 5 stars for your Kenasi for one type of weapon and 3 stars for one weapon style (good combinations are katana + two weapon style and staff + two-handed weapon style). However, look at the table, it'd be very late in the game when you get the Kenasi ability back if you play default SoA (no ToB and mods to give opportunity to get more exp). |
Actually, people usually, IIRC dual at around level 9 for SoA only, and level 13 if they have ToB. Level 13 gives the last 1/2 bonus to warriors, and the Mage part will have plenty of experience left to go crazy (under the ToB cap).

ok, my bad :D *I* like to dual Kenasi at lvl 12 since I mostly tend to play no less than 5 people party and so leveling up becomes a major issue for me (the sooner to get the Kenasi ability back the better). and I don't understand the 1/2 bonus thing, does it add some immense power to the Kenasi ability? how's a lvl 13 Kenasi different from a lvl 12 one? TIA

The "1/2" comment is because all warriors gain an additional 1/2 attack per round at level 13.
The best time to dual is levels 7 (right away), 9 (extra proficiency, max hit points, extra kai), or 13. 12 gives you another proficiency and Kai per day, but if you're going to go that far into Kensai, you may as well just go for level 13. If you do NOT have Throne of Bhaal installed, and don't plan on doing so, then definitely dual your Kensai into a Mage at level 7 or 9. |
If you have ToB and you go solo or in small party do it at level 21.
|
I still prefer 13. 21 will restrict you for too long, and it'd difficult to earn levels as a L1 Mage, unless you do non-combat quests or you've saved experience. It also limits you in terms of spells (HLA's, to be precise).
Your choice, I may be wrong. |
Lol, I just dual classed a Wizard Slayer, at lvl 49 ( I have exp cap remover) to a thief :D . Soloing through TOB is difficult, but it gets you so much exp. Already a lvl 11 thief, and I havent even gone to the marching mountains :D .

Xen, that's what I meant by "saved experience".
