You don't seem to be able to buy them. Do they only come as loot? On level up? TIA.

There are only 3 Wild Mage specific spells & you automatically get them all in your spell book. A Wild Mage casts the same spells a regular Wizard does, but gets a bonus spell for each level (which can be of any school - you can go the whole game without casting one of the 3 Wild Mage spells).
Every time you cast a spell, though, your level will fluctuate by +/-5, which can affect damage, duration, etc. You also have a small chance of creating a Wild Surge. Instead of casting the spell you selected, you roll on a table of 100 different random effects (party loses gold, caster changes genders temporarily, summon a dozen squirrels, get dizzy, etc., etc...). Try it out - it's a fun class.
