Is there a roleplaying reason for having Malchor Harpell take Drizzt's equipment back? I've just come across him in the 2nd Icewind Dale book but have seen nothing to suggest he would come and retrieve his weapons. And if he does, he should do it properly with a pickpocket or something.
Personally I feel that if I do manage to kill Drizzt, I should be allowed to keep his equipment so I'm very tempted to install the Ease of Use patch. It seems almost like cheese to not allow me to keep the loot. Before I do, is there any section in the books that I haven't got too yet in which Malchor pledges to retrieve Drizzt's kit? |
It's been a while since I read the Icewind Dale Trilogy (Currently on Paths of Darkness myself), so I can't remember if he does or not.

The Harpell family shows up in the IWD trilogy, and I think you hear of them in some of Salvatore's works, but I've searched on Amazon and I can't seem to find a book that includes the Harpells as major characters. Sowwy. :(

The Harpells should make a bigger geust appearance in BGII :C)

Thank you both for the replies, normally I wouldn't think of killing Drizzt, but I think I might include Valen in my party, so will be forced into it. Have installed the Improved Drizzt mod which will alleviate my guilty conscience somewhat Can't wait for the mod that allows you to play as his party, gonna be so awesome :D |
Regis has become my favorite character, lol! Everyone else is in second place.

I swear that halfling has luck in spadefulls! Not my favourite I have to say. I've just finished the third book and dismayed that Wulfar and Catti-Brie are married! I always somehow hoped Drizzt would do that. That's the one criticism I have of Salvatore so far, the romance between those was very underdeveloped IMO

I think it's just common sense that Drizzt's party would have someone watching their backs. Powerful adventurers have powerful friends. If they were to fall, someone would obviously resurrect them and help retrieve their equipment. Famous adventurers don't die easily.

If you haven't yet, you really should read the "Dark Elf Trilogy", which introduces Drizzt. Yes, Regis has a lot of luck but he also goes through so much badness. After "Patths of Darkness" is "The Hunter's Blades" I think. |
