Has anyone else found the baldur's gate endings as anticlimactic as i have? im not just talking BG2 SoA, but also ToB, BG1, and Tales of the sword coast(though it didnt really have an ending, just a little story)...i mean honestlym awsome games are deserving of an awsome ending, right? Icewind Dale had a great ending (but i havnt played heart of winter all the way through or icewind dale 2)
So.....who else agrees someone should make a better ending battle...and sequence to follow (yes i know there is one or 2 or 50 i dont know about....but i want one designed around the actual plot of the game) Whos with me! P.S. I put a cat by the subject cause i like kitties... P.M.S. Theres not really any spoilers...but i thought there would be.. ■■^ (hehehe) [ 02-17-2004, 05:47 PM: Message edited by: Noodle ] |
It's been discussed to make a mod about the ending of SoA. Maybe one of the releases of the Unfinished Business mod will touch on it. And what was wrong with the ending of ToB? You find out what happens, you get the little story on each person. All is well with ToB's ending.

Its all ok but...im just saying...coulda been more =\
I mean look at the original icewind dale ending...it had a little puzzle at the end, ppl betraying and semi-final battles...and you just cant forget the cutscenes....where as Tob just has a couple elemental dudes and you fight the same thing 3 times... |
personally i liked the end of ToB , its been so long that i can't remember the end of sword coast, and i have'nt had the chance to play icewind dale, but i did dislike the ending of SoA before getting ToB.

Well, I thought the ending of ToB was rather well paved out, and fighting in the depths of hell to recover your soul from a mad mage is good enough for me

FWIW, I liked the SoA ending up until the point with the big roundtable discussion. Cutting it off there or making better hints at a continuation would've made for a nicer ending.
(Yes, I know, ToB wasn't out of preplanning when SoA was released. A girl can dream, can't she? ) |
Spoilers, ahoy...
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ With such a great storyline throughout the game, even with the "unfinished" plot lines, SoA was so all enveloping that I suspect ANY ending would be anticlimactic to a certain degree. You end up killing the bad guy, duh... you knew from the very beginning when Irenicus zapped you in the cage that you would fight back, track him down, and exact your revenge, right? In ToB, the part that bothered me was the relative lack of tangential side plots. Yes, there's Watcher's Keep. Yes, there are a few little plot lines in Saradush and elsewhere. But it really feels quite linear after the numerous directions you can take in SoA. I thought the ending was fine. A really hard set of fights and then you get to choose whether to accept your Godliness. How much more fitting could it be? Just my 2 cents. |
well tob is just an expansion, meant to just add a little bit
