Ok, I'm really frustrated. I was doing the Planar Sphere quest and faced Lavok. In the middle of the battle Valygar just disappeared. He didn't die, cause his portrait didn't go gray, he just disappeared. Well, I didn't worry about it cause I figured it had something to do with the quest. So I went ahead and got the demon heart, but after I got the demon heart I can't find Lavok. So I walked outside and nothing. I checked my journal and it's like I didn't finish the quest. So not only don't I have Valygar in my party any more, I can't find Lavok. I don't think I can go back either as I didn't save that far back. This is really frustrating and weird.
Or am I missing something? Can anyone offer some insight? Thanks, Gary [ 02-01-2004, 05:56 PM: Message edited by: lehmag ] |
You may have accidently lost him somewhere along the way. Have you clicked on his portrait to see if you get a directional arrow?
I'm assuming you're patched... |
<span style="color: lightblue">On Lavok, he should be in the room where you fought him... his new look makes him a bit harder to see, however.
On Valygar, has his portrait disapeared? If so, did it happen in combat, and what difficulty setting do you use? |
Sounds like Petrification/Disintegration during combat with Lavok.

His portrait is gone. I even went back to look at the log at the bottom of the screen. It doesn't say anything happened to Valygar.
As far as patched I do have the latest official patch. I went back to the room to see Lavok and he's not there. Been there numerous times. If he was disintegrated does that mean no portrait so that you can raise him from the dead? If so, maybe that's what happened?? |
Yes, some spells like flesh to stone and disintegrate remove the character picture from the left of your screen. Also, if you are on core difficulty or higher, some characters will never come back to life if they were "chunked".

The #1 rule of BG2 is to always keep your backup Save, and never overwrite it if you even think you have a bug. Now you know. So, the best advice I can offer is to suck up your losses, go find a replacement for Valygar, roll with the punch and keep going. |
