Is there a mod that changes the location of the de'Arnise keep tax money? I don't mind going back to the keep to fetch it, but having to spend ten minutes picking my way through the keep maze to get pocket change is a little too much. Is there a mod where you can recieve the money from the Major Domo? Or is it possible to create such a mod?

It's not that much about laziness. Other strongholds that pay in items or money (thief, bard, mage, etc.) have a person from whom you receive your booty, and that person's not hidden deep within the stronghold, either.

Just a thought.

It is easy to get the money from the keep.
Enter through drawbridge - you should have opened it.
Go inside, up the steps and to the money on the bookshelf.
It's not really a maze, if you cannot find money in your own keep do you really deserve it?

Good luck finding a mod though.

My solution is boots of speed. Stick some on one of my chars, let everyone gather to go, then run one char along to get the money and usually if it's my PC with the boots, I go back down and send him to Major Domo to settle any issues.. it's easy enough.. but it does get tedious after a while.

But it's obnoxious. The whole autosaving thing gets irritating after a while (read: five minutes)

Or you could just save yourself the trouble and change the movement speed of your characters in Shadowkeeper. Keep in mind this does not effect their hits per round.

That won't change the fact that you have to leave wherever you are, let it autosave, enter the Keep area on the map, walk through in ten seconds, enter the Keep, let it autosave again, then (Choose one: Pick up the money, talk to Major Domo), then go through a different area, autosave AGAIN, then (Choose different one: Pick up the money, talk to Major Domo), then leave, autosaving AGAIN, leave the AREA, autosave AGAIN...

Actually, what might work is, when in the main room (with Major Domo), simply use the console to jump immediately to the second floor and bypassing the autosaving altogether.

I was hoping that Weimer or Sim or somebody designed a little shortcut. Oh well. Maybe this will encourage them to develop one. (Although I think Weimer's currently developing his Ph.D. Shame on him. )

The shortcut desire is mostly for the savegame hanging. It takes 3-5 minutes for screens to load, especially if it's a party-required area (which means autosaving the game).

Let's say I'm in the Bridge District and get the "gold has been placed in your keep" message. I need to travel to the Keep map (autosave), inside the keep (autosave), upstairs (autosave), and pick through this area with piss-poor AI to get 500 gold. Compare this to the same location, but with the "your thieves have returned from their missions" message. Only one autosave, and that's only if you enter the Docks district map, and you can get the gold from the same chap that you get the rest of your quests.

What quests? The Thieves stronghold has all of two quests and depending on when you pay Renal's man he comes later than you get your gold each time, which gets frustrating.

Hmm... Perhaps you could try get someone to develop a mod that allows Major Domo to give you your gold. Or perhaps remove the party and autosave requirement for entering the keep and moving upstairs?...

What does it really matter? What you earn from taxes in the keep is only a drop in the bucket from the amount of gold you get from foes and from magic items in the game.

Yeah, but early on in the game, when you don't have a lot of money...

...oh well. Thought it was important. Let's go back to debating about mages vs. clerics.
