Ok...i am now in the final battle with johny boy.
He cheats. (tactics mode on normal, with ToB installed).

I managed to kill him twice (one time with his minions, the other one when he was slayer).

The third time-was draw.

i got no one left (though i can use the resurection rods), except korgan that is been kept out of harm's way.

I got the cloack of cheese, and since that i am anti paladin, i usually can hit him for 25 damage.
I use black razor and crom fayer, or the flail of ages.

He constantly teleports himself hundreds of meters away, and heals himself.
He is unablee to kill me, since i have boots of speed, ring of gaxx, ring of regeneration and the acid katana if needed, so my regeneration is ok.

How can i kill him? the battle is boooooring.

Well if you ahve Thief you can lay some traps down. Then you can equip a long range weapon with non magical ammunition and shoot him from range or else he will teleport away.

Use the Rod of Ressurection if you have it. Improved Haste and charge madly and go for the eyes! :D

The only thief is jan, and he is dead.
He got still his 4 traps, though i think
it is worth a try.
Now i will start a new game. battling him for 50 minutes the third time was nasty.
i will probably kill him tomorrow.

Any other suggestions?
and thanks for the tip xen.

I've found that the battle can be a bit buggy: Sometimes Jon the 3rd (and his Selfish incarnation in Jon the 1st) will just stand there and not do jack. He's not Feebleminded or Stunned or anything, but when he's the only bad guy standing and he's not being attacked, he just goes dumb. I brought my whole party up to him and we all just stood there, staring at each other, for a couple of rounds. And then of course we started hitting him, and he DD'd away again, and it was back to the old grind. Almost as if Weimer didn't write him an AI for "this is what you do when nobody else is doing anything."

But, of course, the flip side of that is that in those games (I've only fought him 3 times so far) where Jon does just stand there, other weird bugs start to happen as well: His being able to Dimension Door while casting another spell, so that he'll DD across the map, and then spray his original location with a Cone of Cold. Really weird stuff.

Essentially the only people that can catch up to him are those wearing Boots of Speed; there are 4 pairs in SoA, so you should be able to equip all the Warriors in your party. I hate to break it to you, Black Baron, but a single Anti-Paladin (even with Korgan as backup) using the weapons you describe will not be able to hurt Jon faster than he can teleport away and heal. You will need your entire party, somebody using Carsomyr or the Unholy Reaver (or a Fighter/Mage with the SotM), and either lots of Normal weapons or somebody with Boots of Speed and a stack of Breach scrolls. With this setup, you will be able to run Jon down (leave their AI on, and they'll run to his location, even if they don't know where it is) and eventually pound him into the dirt.

But that's the slow way. The quick way is to recognize that since Jon's spellcasting is so impossibly cheesed (permanent Improved Alacrity, -5 to casting time, infinite spells), the only way to beat him is to prevent him casting any spells whatsoever. I'll leave that to you to figure out.

Of, and please put the words "Tactics Final Battle Spoilers" in the title of the thread.

Hmm, do you suggest-miscast magic? Or to import a wizard slayer?

Well try it. You have nothing to loose. Now if you would have a spell wich is really good would be cool. And that spell is called... Insect Plague or Creeping Doom. Since Jan is also a Mage does he have any nith level spells? Use Project Image cheese to summon some friends. Also use spells that counter his defense like Breach,Spell Strike. Also if Jan has Time Stop (you should get a scroll in Sundenesellar) cast it, then in go behind Jon and attack. You will be backstabbing and you will never miss becuase every hit is auto hit so THACO doesn`t matter.
