Is it wrong to be chaotic nuetral on the grounds that i get my own cat? Thought not, just have to keep my pack away from minsc's. Has anyone had any experience with the cat familiar? When is it usefull etc? After claiming the keep i let it run around the castle, nice! For roleplaying purposes, i was hoping that i could let the people at the keep look after the cat. I don't wan't to take it to level 4 (?) but would like a glorious re-union post cough well yes splutter.

The Cat has always been my favorite Familiar: The ones that cast combat spells are near-useless (raise your hands, everyone who wants to lose their Familiar in the first round of battle), so the balance of power shifts to those with Thieving abilities. The Cat is the only one with a perfect score in anything, which means that you can ignore those skills entirely.

Take, for instance, a Chaotic Neutral Swashbuckler->Mage. He knows he'll never be able to Backstab, so he sees no need to put points into Stealth. So he Finds his Familiar, and once his Swashbuckler half comes back, Boom! He's got all his Thieving skills maxed out: 7 skills for the price of 5.
