Synthos 11-10-2001 02:27 AM

Hi everyone, after this summer I can call myself a BG1 veteran, my second serious try at the game, (My first one screwed up on account of a bug). My main plan was to start the game and get all the good NPC's I wanted early on so that we all start gaining levels quickly. My party consisted of:
Paladin - Me (A fairly good choice... I'm now into BG2 with him
Fighter - Khalid (He's not whimpy, just shy.. I almost got him to grand master with large sword
Cleric - Jaheira (I made sort of a bad decision here, Branwen would have made a better cleric, but Jaheira was a good fighter for my team at the time)
Mage - Xan (I *sort of* cheated here because I change Xan from an enchanter to just a general mage, so he could you magic missle and other abjuration spells)
Thief - Imoen (She's really not bad with a short bow)
Ranger - Kivan (I really didn't like Minsc, but Kivan got by far the most kills with his longbow)
I got outta Candlekeep, picked up Imoen, then went to the FAI (friendly arm in)on the way I picked up Xzar and Montaron, just for a little while. I picked up Khalid and Jaheira at the FAI and dumped Montaron and Xzar in a small buildings. I went to Beregost and High Hedge and got Garrick and Kivan. I headed to Nashkel and did the mine quest, dumped Garrick picked up Xan and edited him to a normal mage. With my party intact I begin 'clearing' areas. I would do every side quest and kill every non-respawning monster for that area, then leave it alone for the rest of the game, unless it was the site for other quests.. Using this method I cleared every area before the bandit camp, mind you I did not do the TotSC areas, they would still be a bit too hard for my characters, so I left those till later..
On with the storyline, The bandit camp was a breeze, I never had to reload at all... I quickly did the cloakwoods (still 'clearing') and did the old dwarven mines. Daervoron (can't spell) i think took two tries, but went down easy.
Onto the city of Baldurs Gate, Here I cleared as well, but less organized.. more scattered.. anyways I did all that then pushed on with the story line.. I finished the game. The guys on the top floor of the Iron Throne gave me the most trouble of all.. Sarevok was really extremely easy. I loaded my final-save and did the werewolf quest in Ulgoth's Beard. I tried Durlag's Tower, but i had a spawning bug and just decided to screw it and saved, exported to BG2.

So ends the adventures (In Baldurs Gate) of Synthos the Paladin.

(I had to put this down.. I had a great time playing this game, I really did do almost every side-quest, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask them..)

Well done Synthos! I have finished BG 1 with a Half-Elf Lawful Good Fighter, an Elf Chaotic Good Ranger and with a Paladin.

I would also like to add the fact that I had no strategy whatsoever... I just went in guns blazing everytime with my pumped up characters...
I also forgot that i used the cheat keys alot, (only the Ctrl-J teleport one) this is because I didn't want to walk over the same map 50 gazillion times...

Oh yeah, Thanks Bryonas..

Good job Synthos. I beat the game 3 times. Jorlon the Paladin, Joven the Bard, and Kelvan the ranger. I'm playin a 4th time as a dwarven cleric named StoneRock Chuk'tak. Oh change 3 times to 4, cuz i beat the game with Rats, my evil thief. An evil party is very interesting, especially in SoA

Hm, I finished BG1 twice, the first time with a human ranger and the second time with a paladin. Will try playing as either bard or thief next and continue to SoA (at the moment I play SoA with my Paladin converted to a undead hunter). But I am not sure to take a bard (I am just curious how one plays) or as a thief since there are no decent ones in SoA.

Chris77Se I heard that bards get really interesting in SoA and that they get special quests i havent had time to find out myself since im trying to beat BG1 first before i go onto SoA and ToB, so if any one knows can you tell us coz im quite interested in carrying a bard over as well

You should have considered having Yeslick (fighter/cleric) in your party. He seems to be completly forgotten. He can be found in the Cloakwood mines.
